The Super 14 has not even begun but there are injury concerns already for three of the New Zealand teams

Crusaders halfback Kevin Senio is in doubt for Friday's Super 14 opener against the Blues in Auckland.Senio hurt his hand during his side's pre-season loss to the Waratahs in Sydney last week, and he will be assessed during training tomorrow.

Meanwhile the Blues are injury free.

Also being monitored this week is Otago's Nick Evans and Glen Horton ahead of the game against the Force in Perth.

Evans hurt his knee during their pre-season game against the Queensland Reds and Horton is suffering from a rib injury.

The Hurricanes are injury free and enjoying a camp on the Gold Coast ahead of Saturday's clash with the Reds in Brisbane.

The Chiefs will be without Sione Lauaki for the next three to four weeks after the hulking loose forward broke his wrist in the Chiefs pre-season win over the Blues last week.

The Highlanders send injured Nick Evans home, while there are concerns for the Hurricanes and the Blues

A big injury blow for the Highlanders heading into week two of the Rebel Sport Super 14.

Nick Evans is battling a medial ligament strain in his knee and is coming home.

He missed the first round win against the Force in Perth, and will not make his expected return to action on the tour to South Africa.

Coach Greg Cooper says Evans' injury is worse than first feared, but he may be right for the Stormers or Blues matches in rounds four and five.

In another problem for the Highlanders, North Harbour winger Villiame Waqaseduadua is out for three weeks with ligament damage to his knee.

The Hurricanes will wait on injury reports today on Tim Fairbrother's shoulder, John Schwalger's neck and new captain Conrad Smith's eye after the Saturday night loss to the Reds in Brisbane.

All three are in doubt for Friday night's match against the Chiefs in Hamilton.

The Blues have concerns over Sam Tuitupou's knee and Isaia Toeava's shoulder problem.

The Crusaders and Chiefs appear to have come through the first weekend injury free.
