Said they couldn't put it back in place in dressing rooms after.
Hopefully he can come back late in the year if we are going towards finals.
All depends on recovery.

Frizell closes in on Dragons return
  • r0_0_800_600_w1200_h678_fmax.jpg

Tyson Frizell could make a timely return from injury for the Dragons against Newcastle.
Luckless St George Illawarra could be about to receive a much-needed boost with Tyson Frizell a chance to return for next Sunday's NRL clash against Newcastle.

Paul McGregor's side are in the grips of a major talent shortage with skipper Gareth Widdop dislocating his shoulder against Brisbane and likely to require surgery, a blow which could spell the end of his season and his time in the NRL.

With Jack de Belin suspended indefinitely, the Red V are without two of their biggest stars.

However it's understood they could be about to get one back with Frizell a possibility to recover from a lacerated testicle in time to take on the Knights at McDonald Jones Stadium.

After suffering the injury as a result of an accidental low blow in their season-opening loss to North Queensland and undergoing surgery, the club had pencilled him in for two to four weeks on the sidelines, putting him on track to possibly return next weekend.

The Dragons were roundly criticised following their opening two losses to the Cowboys and South Sydney, however snuck home by a Corey Norman field goal on the back of a dominant performance by their pack against Brisbane on Friday.

The likes of James Graham, Paul Vaughan and Tariq Sims out-muscled the much-vaunted young Broncos pack.

And Vaughan said he took the challenge personally.

"It was good. It was a great battle, the Broncos have a great forward pack, they're very powerful, we knew we had a big job to do and some of the boys took it a little bit personal," Vaughan said.

"Which is good, you've got to make those challenges with yourself and with the other players."

After hitting their stride against the Broncos, the injection of Frizell would only further bolster an already impressive pack.

"The first two games we've started really well with the forwards," Vaughan said.

"We set a great platform and then in the second half we fell away at times.

"It was a big challenge for the boys last night and we took it upon ourselves to get the boys off to a good start, build a platform and go from there.

"We know what we're capable of. We've got a great pack, we just have to do a bit more heavy lifting until some of the other boys come back."

P.S I sincerely hope that they don't play him too early...

Not good news, the longer the shoulder is out..the worse the damage is and usually the longer the recovery is . Feel sorry for Widdop his shoulder will be a potential real burden later on and for g=his career going forward.

JDB case very up and the air obviously, but with this early time off the field for Frizz and JDB it may be a blessing in disguise for us, especially if we can find ways to win in the meantime. Their burn out in the second half of the year has always been concerning. I'd be giving Vaughan a break at some point too, around Origin maybe. Wouldn't be rushing Tyson back although not sure it's the kind of injury that you can rush back from. Anyone an expert on balls here?

Even at best case scenario, they need to tread very carefully with his recovery 3 - 6 weeks I woul extend to 8 - 12 just for more stability and recovery, that would mean back in june/july.
Anyway speedy recovery Gaz.

I write as a guy who has had dislocations of the shoulder.

Gareth can not return this season without an operation. I am one of his biggest fans on the forum and want him back. The shoulder tendons are again stretched and only surgery can fix.

Benji Marshall was plagued with dislocating shoulder problems 2004, early 05 etc. couple of operations.

I think Gareth is gone

St George Illawarra skipper Gareth Widdop had scans and saw a specialist earlier on Monday after dislocating his shoulder in the Dragons' last start win over the Brisbane Broncos.

Widdop's shoulder will be operated on later this evening.

The Dragons will provide further information on the status of the England international in the coming days.

Not sure if you saw Vaughan being interviewed and asked whether Gareth will stick around. He was adamant Gareth wouldn't abandon the team in anyway. Says a lot about Gareth as a man and as a proud Dragon. Based on that he will sticking around whether he plays or not.

Yeah I did see the interview mate but was wondering seeing he hadnt had the scans at that stage maybe he thought it wouldnt be a real lengthy stint on the sideline because hopefully the injury wouldnt require surgery....if he looks now like he may not be playing again maybe the club may decide to let him and his family go so they can re settle themselves back up in the UK.....having said that I could very well be wrong and maybe he is an outside chance of playing a few games....which ever way it turns out he has been a great player for our club and will be sorely missed

I said at the beginning of this season, Widdop should have been let go and a top line fullback/centre/winger or two be recruited in his place. He would be mad to come back this season and could even be rejected on medical grounds by his new club for next season and beyond.

Extremely premature to talk about JDB being anywhere near playing football for us. As you say things are very much up in the air but court cases can move incredibly slowly and the case will not be sped up just because the accused wants to play football, especially in a matter that could lead to serious jail time for Jack if he is found guilty. I hope he is innocent, and if he is that he can carry on with his life as soon as possible, but I for one do not expect JDB playing for us anytime soon.
