When Kidwell was announced as the bunnies 3rd interchange when he came on after half time, I thought to myself I wouldn't mind researching what Hagan has done with our interchange this year, because it hasn't really been crash hot - either than or the playing strength just isn't there to call on like in other clubs?
Some of the 10 interchanges should be no brainers...
20 mins - give your props a rotation (1 & 2)
30 mins - change the dummy half (3)
60 mins - put your starting props back on (4 & 5)
60 mins - put Riddell back on and give a backrower a spell (6)
So far that makes for a bench needing a dummy half (Keating) and two props (whoever), which leaves you one extra space, which we've been using for a back rower. Having that backrower takes up another two interchanges (on and the off), which means that we only have 2 interchanges up our sleeves to do anything different with.
We needed those for Mateo last night (off and then on), but I think what Hages has been doing is having the four props not just come on for 2x20mins each (separated by half time), but has spaced out their interchanges and thrown and extra on and off into the rotation.
I think it's mainly having the playing depth/quality/form available that's the problem, not how we've been using the interchange as such?
