I reckon there's a good chance that still happens Quigsy, just not to the same extent as the old days. Here's how I think it will pan out:
Arko will "act as a mediator" between the NRL and Des.
NRL will tell Arko that Des has to choose which one he wants to play, as the NRL doesn't want to look weak and has to at least take one player out.
Arko tells Des, Des initially blows up but in his mind he has been thinking straight from both infringements, "as long as Steve plays, we can do without Tone".
Des tells Arko that he needs Matai.
Deal is done.
