This is from the Jack Afamasaga interview on MSE

You played much of your junior football as a rugby union centre. What was the reason for the change of codes?
Parramatta sent over their junior grade to tour New Zealand and Mark Horo who was the development officer for my area asked me to come over and play. I hadn’t really watched or played Rugby League before until that game, but from that Parramatta asked me to come over and play with them. I might be keen on playing rugby union again one day but I haven’t really been keeping in touch with it recently. My cousin Ma’a Nonu plays for the All Blacks and I heard that he’s thinking of coming to play Rugby League so the boys might put some pressure on me to persuade him to come here!

Interesting indeed!

If Nonu wanted a crack at league I'd gladly take him at Manly, although I'd trial him in the forwards. Love to see Nonu in the backrow, although I figure he'd probably want to stay in a position we are already well covered in (the centres).

I think we signed Kane Cleal so that we could lure Lyon, now we've signed Afa so we can lure Nonu.

Is it worth signing Lolesi for a year to see if Benji might give us a chance?

Good read scuba. Big find about Nonu. Didn't know he was related to Afamasaga. Nonu has already said that he supports the dogs, so he might head there. Would love to have him. I think he could make the switch easily.

competition for places in the WC all blacks side will be pretty tight. considering that he wasnt picked in the group rested for the start of the super 14 season, there is a (small) chance he may not get a place.

if he misses out, i'd say he might seriously consider a switch. he is an awesome player and give us extra depth in the pack and in the centres.

we'll have a fair bit of room in the cap at the end of the season, so it might be possible.

looking forward to seeing afamasaga play for us. he looks like a pretty big unit, hopefully he can stay injury free.

We won't if either Luke O'Donnell  or Paul Gallen :( sign with Manly.

true, but if they dont, nonu would be a solid bet. i'd take odonnell over nonu, as he'll slot straight into the team, nonu will need a little time to settle into the game.
