i rencently treated myself to a roku media streamer (google it)....on which theres loads of subscription channels....one that caught my eye,and i know its not "new" but MLB.tv...baseball took to iptv relatively early and from what i can gather its been a huge hit.....so could we (RLIF) have a RL.tv iptv station?

could the RFL & ARLC/NRL partner up with the RLIF,they are the only 2 bodies used to dealing with mulit million/billon £/$ media contracts..and instead of selling their online packages to sky, bbc, foxtel etc...keep hold of them and start a WRL.tv ( world rugby league) iptv station?? as well as having english & aussie RL on there all the games that get "streamed" these days would be on WRL.tv too...streamed usarl games, streamed serbian grand finals, streamed schoolboy tests for example...the RFL & NRL could also open the vaults to the archives and fill the channel with "gold" content, old tests, old challenge cup games, old ESL & NRL games

in fact
im surprised the NRL haven't already done it? it bypasses the need to sell individual international tv rights...just put NRL.tv on a iptv provider, charge everyone $10-15 amonth ( or whatever) and make it available to every country apart from australia...that way nine & foxtel still have worth to their billion dollar contract and the NRL has full control of its international content..

just a idea

I wonder how much it costs nba and mlb to have a channel?
I suppose the big thing is the american-scentric customer base of these types of things.
The TV market is very different in aus. Most people struggle to even find GEM to watch RL on free to air.

Similar situation with NBA coverage. With my pay tv sports package I get 2-3 games a week, however I can subscribe to NBA TV and get every match if I choose, so the pay tv rights are not exclusive. This would work if the RLIF was able to negotiate
