Two new players have been called into the Ricoh Australian Sevens team to play in the George Sevens in South Africa, following injuries to Scott Staniforth and Andrew Brown during the Dubai tournament.
Nathan Williams from the Queensland Reds and Elia Tuqiri from the NSW Waratahs have joined the team in South Africa as they prepare for their Day 1 pool matches tomorrow (Friday).
The call up for Tuqiri, the young cousin of Wallaby winger Lote Tuqiri, caps off an outstanding year for the utility back. He made his Super 12 debut for the Waratahs against the Brumbies, marking Wallaby captain George Gregan, then scored five tries for the Australian Under 21s in the World Cup in England.
Nathan Williams brings plenty of experience to the side, having 42 caps for the Queensland Reds under his belt. He was playing in an invitational team in Dubai last weekend, so simply joined the Australian team for the South African leg.
Australia are in Pool C for the George tournament, and again find themselves up against some newcomers from Africa in the pool matches. They will play Uganda then Morocco, before coming up against the more familiar Fiji.
