I think it is.

Even though I'm a Storm fan I think it good for League and League in Queensland in particular that the Broncos won last night. Even if you take the claims that that the AFL is making big inroads into QLD with a grain of salt the Broncs win last night combined with the Titans coming in next year can only cement league's position as the #1 game in QLD with daylight second.

The Storm and league in general is on the up here in Victoria and us winning or losing last night will have no major impact on its future "down mexico way" as we'll be a major contender for the next 5-6 years..

I suspect if you asked Fat Andy who the AFL would have preferred to win last night he would have said Melbourne knowing that a Brisbane win would not be good for the AFL's business in QLD.

I loved the look on Demetriou's face at the AFL Grand Final brekky a couple of days back when Molly Meldrum spoke and at the end of his speech gave the Storm a massive plug.

I think either result would have been great for rugby league tbh. The Storm for obvious reasons - they are playing so well and are really helping the game to grow down there.

But now with Brisbane - I honestly think we will break a 35K crowd average over season 2007 unless we capitulate badly. I can't remember the last time a team did that - and it would be an awesome thing for the game. We averaged around 31.5K this year - and a premiership should easily bring 5K more out of the woodwork for most of the year.

I'll be there in my usual seat, as always :)

I definatly think we can crack 35k - Garenteed home games against The Titans, Cowboys, Storm and Bulldogs will help, and hopefully we also get home games against the Dragons and Warriors.

The last team to do it was us in 1995. Ever since we've moved back to Lang Park in 2003 we've averaged 29,742 and it's been rising every year:
2003 - 28,272
2004 - 28,676
2005 - 30,331
2006 - 31,208

I don't see any reason why it we wouldn't follow that natural increase to maybe 32k next year and then a premiership could spike that by about 5k, aiming at 35-37k for a crowd average next year is a realistic goal.

And that in itself is amazing. They are also predicting that this could well really increase the number of season members as well.

We had around 11K this year IIRC, and there's no reason to think that couldn't increase by 1 or 2k after last night.

The bandwagon will definitely mean less leg room next year, but it's still good for the game. Look for the Lions average to drop from 28K to around 25K, particularly if they continue to suck so much :):)

unless my team's playing, i don't like seeing dominant minor premiers lose. i feel it's an injustice.

it's not outrageous, just a gut feel.
