I swear, all he needed was the long hair.

If he's blowing next weekend, I just give up..

In 20 years I've never seen the crowd go nuts like that at the ref.

Ice cube explained this phenomonen in "f**k the police", being the lone kiwi in the ranks in order to impress his australian counterparts and not come across as bias to his own countrymen perenara feels the need to be extra hard on us and penalises us for every little thing...

"Black po-lice showing out for the white cop"?

I was thinking he was overdoing it in trying not to make hometown decisions, but then read he's been an NRL ref since 2011. He should be over that.

Anyway, we have a strong argument that we've copped it from Aussie refs for 21 years. Nothing Perenara could do would go even close to re-addressing this.

A few hometown decisions when we play in NZ? Bring it, biatches!

I agree but jeez, he did us a massive favour referring that "obstruction" as a no-try didn't he? Just seemed like a blatant square-up call.

yeah, the obstruction was helpful.

I'm still gobsmacked at the Gavet tackle - that was just amazing

That obstruction was the repeat 2nd set after Gavets tackle..

Square up ?

I doubt it, the Bunker didn't make the Gavet call. Or did it? That was Perenara, right?

I actually think Gavet did attack the knees on purpose (he has prior form) but there's absolutely no way in hell it could be penalised.

I still have no idea what the call was for?
It was a legit tackle, nothing against the rules at all.

Gavet shouldn't even show up to the judiciary

Four players are facing one-week suspensions, while another three players have been charged by the NRL match review committee on Monday afternoon.

Newcastle's Sione Mata'utia (Grade 1 dangerous throw), Penrith's Jeremy Latimore (Grade 1 dangerous contact), Wests Tigers' Chris Lawrence (Grade 1 dangerous throw) and South Sydney's Paul Carter (grade 2 dangerous contact) could all miss Round 4 of the NRL Telstra Premiership.

Parramatta's Kieran Foran (Grade 1 contact with match official), Penrith's Sam McKendry (grade 1 careless high tackle) and South Sydney's Kirisome Auva'a (grade 1 dangerous contact) could all escape suspension with early guilty pleas.

All players will have until midday Tuesday to enter a plea.

The shot on Tevaga (I forget who, Kenny Bromwich) was a fairly run of the mill shoulder charge/late hit that if not worthy of suspension, was surely more reportable than Matulino's the week before.

More  from the match review committee.

He lacks one thing Harrigan had- Harrigan was actually a good ref until his ego got the better of him, thats why he got to ref finals and Origin. Perenara is more like the new Mogsheen Jadwat.

How did Perenara's career end at the Warriors? The bloke does nothing but repeatedly bend us over. He's a fair dinkum disgrace.

From memory he had some injury issues and never really cemented a spot in top grade. Same as the rest of his playing career really...

I read somewhere years ago that he was offloaded to the Tigers to make room for John Kirwin, and was still filthy about it years later.

That'd be a bit hard given that Kirwan played in 95-96 and Perenara played (for all of 3 caps) in 2000. And he never played for the Tigers. Bottom line is he was a journeyman footballer whose only period of first grade consistency came (surprise surprise) in his two years at the Storm where he got 33 of his 72 caps and his sole Kiwi test cap. Othetwise 72 games for 5 clubs over 8 seasons about sums up the sort of player he was. Good enough to have a reasonable career as a pro footballer, but only borderline first grade standard.

I must have him mixed up with someone else
