Opinion Is Ricky Stuart the most overrated coach ever?

Say what you like about the Rickster but if you took a form table from round 9 last year, the Raiders are second to only Penrith.

Must be doing something right.
How many wins have they had against top 4 teams though in that period though.

I suppose you can only play who you are drawn against.

But my recollection is raiders beat all the teams they should have in the bottom half of the table in last 10 weeks or so apart from Melbourne last year to charge into the 8.

But i still remember Penrith have put them to the cleaners both times in Canberra.

Wins in Brisbane this year and Melbourne x 2 last year are probably your stand outs. The rest are mostly against depleted or average teams.

The Stickster never fails to deliver.

Yet another quality press conference sook, despite the win.
That wasn’t a sook or whinge, but gee it was one hell of an egotistical rant.
But it was a dopey question from the journo. It was a risky call but it paid off. It was a quite a clever from Ricky. Instead of people talking about the massive collapse at the end, everyone is talking about him calling others muppets and Croker’s 300th

He’s got more Pashun than schoolies.

Though we do have an easy draw this year - but of course not as easy as the PANTHERS the past few years. Those blokes have consistently played teams below them on the ladder for three years now.

Obviously the team selections are a story for a different day (when we lose) and his press conference was mental (but a sort of low level contempt for the fanbase is the baseline at the Raiders)

But I can't get over the bench use again. Tapine is a massive bloke and he played him for 73 minutes where towards the end he started to get a bit loose down the inside defensively. The tigers rightly saw that both hors and probably tapine would play a lot of minutes and gave them both a lot of defensive work which they on the whole handled but it was clear they were stuffed and slowing down. Tapine legit looked like he was going to vomit as soon as the full time siren went.

His bench was halfback (played 7 minutes on the edge), hooker (played 11 minutes) and two middle forwards who played 45 (guler) and 27 minutes (ata). Tapine is on the whole our best player but I don't think we get best value out of him playing him for such long minutes.

Pete he has had the same basic bench rotation philosophy since he was at the Roosters in 2002. He plays his starters way too long, and only effectively uses 1 or 2 of his bench players at best. It winds up catching up with the team either late in the season or the finals as the starters are fatigued (physically and/or mentally). In that regard he has not adapated at all in 21 years of first grade coaching, which is quite ordinary when you think about it.

Just wait until his son Jed makes his debut. This thread will go to yet another level.

Slothfield just recommended Sticky replace Fittler if he gets the flick XD

BY ALL MEANS, BUZZ.
What did Ricky actually do in 2005. He actually didn't pick Joey for Game 2 originally.

Trent Barrett did a hamstring on the Thursday to which Joey was picked after being overlooked and produced one of his finest origin series.

Ricky would be an outstanding choice for State of Origin coach.

When Ricky brings back bonding sessions it will be all over for QLD.

The guy literally said Croker having a nice week is more important than winning a match and he doesn't care if it costs us final footy.

That's the level the Raiders are operating on. That's loser talk from a guy coaching kindergarten table tennis never mind professional rugby league.

Abit like the "I'd be happy if we win 1 game" when he was NSW coach LMAO

This was mind blowing.

Professional sport is literally about one thing.

Winning.

Given the NRL requires a top four ladder position to take out the comp, almost every game matters.
