Is violence a problem in the Toyota Cup?

I've heard whispers that some people throughout Rugby League are really concerned about the amount of violence in the Toyota Cup and of course this was magnified with the Dragons Roosters game the other week.

Unfortunately I haven't had the chance to see many games but in the 3 or 4 I've seen live and the 3 or 4 I've seen on TV, there has been a tendancy to be a fair few fights or push and shoving bouts.

Overall, the Toyota Cup has been an enormous success and will go from strength to strength. But does anyone feel that because of the lack of scrutiny from the media and attention from the wider public, that the players are more likely to have a go at it?

I've got no problem with a bit of biff, but there should be much harsher penalties for cheap shots like kicks, king hits and wrestling (also for those who instigate brawls).

Didn't that guy who kicked in the Drag/Roosters game last week only get 3 weeks? If so it's a disgrace, should be at least a year.

There has been more violence in the U20's, but there's a lot of testosterone out there

I can't even remember who it was now....I think a really big Roosters forward? Anyway, I thought what he did in that brawl was even worse than the kick....he was just throwing massive haymakers all over the place with lethal intent...like he was absolutely intent on killing someone. It was sickening.

There was always plenty of brawls in Jersey Flegg. There is probably less of it in Toyota Cup.

It's not good to see too much, but yeah play under 21 rugby or league anywhere and the amount of blow ups is pretty high.
Young fella's full of themselves are always prone to trying to prove how tough they are and without the old heads to calm it down it tends to escalate.
