Henderson excited by Eliab's dynamism and leadership
London Broncos coach Andrew Henderson is relishing the chance to work with new signing Israel Eliab.
Eliab, 24, has linked up with the Broncos for 2016, after enjoying a successful spell in the Queensland Cup with the Papua New Guinea Hunters.
He has also captained his country, PNG, at international level, and Henderson hopes that the Kokopo-born stand-off can bring some genuine star quality to the Championship.
"I've done a lot of homework on Israel, and he's still relatively young, that's what excites me about him," Henderson told Love Rugby League.
"He's only 24. He's done a really great job with the PNG Hunters, and he's been a dominant force in the Queensland Cup competition in the last few years.
"He's plenty of form. He's been in the running for Player of the Year (voted by opposition coaches) for the last two years.
"He's been the captain of the Hunters, as well, at such a young age, which is a credit to him as a person, not just as a player.
"Also he's captained his country at such a young age.
"He's an exciting prospect, and he's going to bring a different dynamic to the team.
"Hopefully, he'll bring some of that leadership he's shown at his previous club to London too."
Henderson also sees the Eliab as something of a personal project, who can progress at London over the next few seasons into something really special.
"The great thing is that he is still developing as a player," he added.
"So his best years are ahead of him. If I get the opportunity to develop him and work with him further, and hopefully he does enjoys his time in London, and wants to stay in London, then he can have a successful career here."
