Well, that was the most disgusting, pathetic attempt at refereeing Ive seen.

And they ruined the game on the greatest day of the year.

Hang your heads in shame Archer and Hayne! Your pathetic!

It would have been the biggest travesty of all time if the Storm had lost that.
AND to the people who are bagging Tony Archer - Ok it was an ordinary decision but we lost the game when we let Inglis score uncontested. It was one of the worst plays I have seen in a GF for years.
Cant blame the refs for our inexperience and the Storms magnificent achievement.

I concur especially the Moimoi one. But i doubt anyone else will see it our way.

What comes goes around I guess. I remember the Storm being ripped off a lot worse than this verse the Broncos a few years back.

there were some interesting decisions, however the three missed tackles = three tries hurt us the most and simply, and it pains me to "type", the better team won on the day

how was it clearly a penalty?

moi moi didnt even have control over him or anything, slater just tried to get up too quick and CLEARLY dropped the ball.

well one thing ppl can take out of this game is parra have confirmed slater buckles under pressure big time

Infact i would say that if Fui and Nate Hindmarsh wasnt there we would have been lapped.
we had no forward penetration and our kicking game was woeful.

Yeah, melbourne was the best team on the day. And we had our chance when Slater knocked on.

parra got beaten by the better team suck it up and get ready for next year where the eels will be a even better team
Its a old saying but its been proven true over many years. You have to lose a grand final before you win one. Well that means a win next year

Parra got some very dud calls. I think Storm's second set, clear call of "2nd play it" and he runs off the mark. Had to be a penalty and could have changed the game. Countless foward passes and lying in the ruck from the storm. There was one incident that happened about 4 minutes from half time, but I have forgotten it, but it would have given Parra 6 again on the attack. With about 10 mins left, Scott Anderson raised a forearm into Moi Moi, but because Moi Moi is tough, nothing was said and the final play with 3 or so minutes to go to penalise Moi Moi was ovbiously wrong.

All this from a Panthers fan!

That being said, if Parra played the whole game like they did in the 62nd to 75th minute, you would have won by 20.

You have a positive future and should be up there again next year. I just hope the storm give it a rest, and we can finally have a GF without them.

Storm overall looked superior, but I gotta check the replay for a few things that annoyed me, some prior to Storm tries.

i) There first try came after a line drop-out, which was off the back of a break made by a player who looked tackled to me. I don't know which Eels player had him till I watch the replay, but he was on the ground holding the Storm players leg, and I thought I heard the referee call "Release", whereby he let go, and the ref let the player run on, making another 20-30m. Did anyone else hear this, or did I not hear correctly?

ii) Ben Smith being penalised when we were smashing them in defence, for "holding down". Storm score off the next set (Lowrie mistackle). Never was this penalty given to us, despite some far worse occasions where Melbourne laid all over the ruck, and for longer periods of time (particularly in the second half).

iii) Nathan Hindmarsh called "knocking-on" in the play the ball, when a Storm knee made contact with his arm while playing the ball. Fair enough as it was poor security, but where was the consistency with Moi Moi penalised against Slater that led to the field goal?

iv) Storm's fourth try, off of a knock-on called against Mateo - replay showed ball played at by Melbourne, Mateo pleaded "six again" - not forthcoming. Again, it was a loose carry, but it just highlights the sh*t inconsistency with the Slater penalty.

v) The Slate decision. FFS where was the consistency?

On the flipside, we had the holding back of Inglis not called.

I will watch the replay to set my mind one way or another on the above decisions, but as it currently stands, I am pretty annoyed with how the game was called.

Particularly, if he had called "release" and I am filthy about that penalty on Ben Smith.

The reffing didn't help, but Parra lost by playing their worst half of football in about 10 weeks in the first half of the game.
