Its Official, Smashing Pumpkins are back

it's official, The Smashing Pumpkins are currently writing songs for their upcoming album, their first since 2000. no release date has yet been set, but the band plans to begin recording this summer.

Also Channel V just said something about them being back.

Not sure at this stage if its all original band members though.

Agreed, they somehow managed to fluke a couple of good singles, but their greatest achievement was pull the wool over the eyes of a legion of fans with heads up their arses!

Mellon Collie is a classic of an album, just amazing.

They never lived up to their potential imo.

They better come to Melbourne to play a gig, havnt seen them yet.

There first3albums had some great songs on them but they went downhill. I expect crap but hope to be pleasently surprised. Is it the Corgon/Chamberlain(excellent drummer)/Iha line up with some bassist (doubt Darcy would play somehow).

Do you count Pisces Iscariot as an album? if so - you didn't like MCATIS?

As for the Line-up, The Billy/Jimmy thing will be there of course, however i can't see James comming back as he seems to be happy with APC, and Billy constantly states that D'arcy broke up the band so i can't see her being invited back either. Perhaps they should use that guy from Zwan who looked like James?

MCATIS would have to be up there in all time album greats, quality stuff.

Machina album isnt all that popular, but there are some quality songs
on the album, I wasnt dissapointed at all with it.

As for the band members, all of them would be nice but I would happily settle
for only Billy and Jimmy if it meant another pumpkins album.

i f*ckin loved it. some good songs, and awesome lyrics. but then again their albums seemed to coincided with terrific times in my life. sorry if i'm getting a little deep here!
