Tuesday, April 26 – Panthers Chairman Don Feltis and Rugby League CEO Michael Leary have this morning informed Head Coach Matthew Elliott, the coaching staff and players that the Panthers Board has resolved to appoint a new coach for 2012 and beyond.
The club is not in a position to comment any further on the appointment of a Head Coach for the 2012 season

Since when did we have 20000 supporters?

Since before Matty Elliott took over... in Langy's day, Panthers were greatly supported. Many fans haven't gone to their home games since Elliotts first season due to incredibly poor onfield performances.

Ive heard through the rumour mill that the choices for next years coach (in possible order) are

1. D.Hasler
2. N.Brown
3. D.Anderson
4. R.Stone
5. R.Stuart
6. G.Murray

If its Hasler or Brown I'm happy.

If its Stuart I'm meh..and feeling the same as I did for Elliot.

Only problem now is Purts will be captain & have his pick of positions for the rest of the year. Bring on 2012.

No way it should be Nathan Brown......Honestly the guy cannot coach.

Just look at the dragons , with Brown they had the best roster and FAILED. With Bennett they have a lesser roster and win...

The dragons knew what the problem was and fixed it.

We should not bring someone who cannot bring something new.

We need an innovative coach, one who can bring in some star players and one that has the ability to detect talent an bring it into first grade.

The new coach needs to bring his own coaching team, he also needs to lay a future for the clubs juniors.

Nathan Brown cannot do this.....he is a nice guy but discipline is not his strong suit and discilpline is what the kids out here need.

Honestly if we could get Meninga as a figurehead combined with some really good assistants we may become an attractive club for good players to come to.

Brownie wasnt the one who was completely at fault at the dragons

1- Yes he should have been stronger with the players , and those who didnt execute his game plans

what the panthers would get from Brownie is

the number 1 in technical and tactical game plans

and a more harden coach from his stint overseaes

I wouldnt dismiss Nathan Brown so easily.

Yes his team under performed when he was at the dragons. But you have to remember he was way too young to be in charge of that team. His connections with a lot of his players cost him IMO.

It was madness to appoint someone so close to the players and the CEO.

That experience will do him well and he now has 3 more years under his belt in which he has improved the team he took charge of.

His other positive is he is still young and close to the modern game.

A young coach with 7 years experience is very rare.

How are Penrith going to execute Brown's technical gameplans when they can't even execute Elliott's ABC gameplans?

I could see the Panthers signing Brad Fittler or Ricky Stuart as coach, although not sure what Stuart would bring to the Panthers given he has been "tried and failed" at two other NRL clubs.

From all reports, Hasler will re-sign with Manly for another 2 years.

Really don't think Nathan Brown would be a good fit for the Panthers.

In any event, getting rid of Elliot will be a positive move for the Panthers.
