Good luck to the kid I guess, I think he's a solid player but IMO goes missing in the big games. I think he's a centre to be honest.

I think he is a good interchange utility player.

Bird won't hold down the fullback position at the Sharks. Sounds like he wants to play in the spine which is understandable as guys in those positions make more money. But if he gets pushed out of the halves by Maloney he needs to go into the centres.
This is what I find ridiculous.. hes either signing on at centre money or hes signing on at fullback/five-eigth money.. and they already signed Barba at that money plus Holmes im not sure if hes been extended in the past 12 months, but im sure he was also signed on the premise of fullback..

Annoys me because we lost BMoz over such a little thing as "fullback vs winger wages" and they have 3 of em..

They can have all the fullbacks in the world but they're still the Sharks and they've still won f*** all.

The Bird has flown the coop I am afraid.

Would prefer we concentrate on our juniors, rather than on guys who are no longer with us.

What a non-event thread.

But would love to see AFB and Bird reenter the Dragon's Den.

I can but dream.

He was playing in the Illawarra last year AFB that is off the bench for Thirroul towards the back end of the year.

Hasn't signed with another NRL team at the moment but would be a fair chance of playing with the Cutters.

barba is basically having his wage paid by the broncos, and part of that money is being subsidised by the dogs.
so under the sharks cap he isn't taking much up at all.
neither his val, but will be when we need to re sign him.

wouldn't surprise me if a few players left next year. Toops, Gallen etc to pay for Holmes

So hypothetically if Sharks granted Barba a release for next season he could potentially be paid by up to 4 clubs at once? LOL that speaks volumes.

yeah

but he wont be released not yet anyway.

He, IMO should get a crack at fullback where he was good and if he doesn't play well then its the Val Era.
that said wouldn't surprise me if Valentine moves into the halves with Maloney.

anyway, bird is a shark, you guys got T Frizz. etc. it all swings around and around

Yep. Smart move to resign him. Worry about positional moves later.

RTS was a winger before becoming the world's best FB. Lockyer was a fullback before becoming world's the best 5/8.

Great players find a way regardless of what position they play. Will be interesting to see if Bird becomes one of these players. A rep jumper and a Rookie of the Year award in his first year suggests he has the potential.
