From the 10 or so minutes I saw of him tonight I can honestly say that i would prefer him as the number 1 halfback.. Lui lacks hussle..where as Miller was all over that lose ball.. He has also got a boot on him and seems confident enough to lead a pack around even with Benji and Farah in the team... This kid has got superstar written all over him.. Work on his defense and he will be gold for us.. Sign him up already,....please

Yeah, I just added this on the other thread... "It was only 15 minutes against a terrible Souffs side but really liked the look of Miller. Nothing exceptional but looked completely at ease out there and not afraid to have a go. I don't want to say he looks the goods but gee I'd like to see him leading the team around the park one week to see how he goes."

Promising signs.

I thought Moltzen was good without being outstanding tonight and is a really classy player.

His D was great - putting shots on = taking on burgess.....

As I said in another thread Miller >>>>>> Moltzen at 7

Moltzen is slowly regaining his confidence and the ball he threw to Brown was made to look simple because of his skill.

He contributed tonight and put his body on the line at the end to take Taylor head on.

Moltzen is a quality player, he has significantly improved every week after his return from injury. As his confidence builds, he'll be back to his best.

Miller though does look like a genuine, quality number 7 and I rate him well above both Lui and Moltzen.

As the weeks go on, I'd like Sheens to keep giving him more and more time, as opposed to just naming him at 7 for a full game. Help build his confidence and role more each week.

I personally thought McKinnon was sh*thouse and would rather see Brown at fullback

Thats interesting, I seen it the other way? It's on Fox at 11.00 am today, I will have to have another look. But Brown was great, don't know where they are going to put him when everyone comes back, would you rate him as a centre until Lawrence is back?

McKinnon at times when picking up the loose ball from kicks will sometimes leave it til way too late before he picks the ball up, he hasn't got the pace to allow defenders the opportunity to get closer to him.

His positional play for receiving kicks is inconsistent too. Sometimes it's perfect and sometimes it's f**king hopeless.

We saw this last year, when he was playing five-eighth alongside Brad Murray.
Keeps reminding me of the quality we have lost, but I do like him, hope he goes well.

He is only 18, he has time on his side. For me, he has Moltzen, then Lui in front of him. He is getting experience at present which will help him as he matures.
Beside, if he is a better goal kicker then Benji (probably not that hard), then he may never get a permanent gig if Benji has any thing to do with it? :D

Miller is nothing short of quality he's got a good future ahead, so much better than Brad Murray last. Wests are on to a winner with him.

Agree. Lui's lackadaisical demeanour is a concern for me. He needs to show more enthusiasm ,desire, hussel to win every contest with the ball as young Miller showed and not just rely on his natural abilities.

Moltz's cut out to Brown was quality. Others would have taken the wrong option.

If only the NRL had a trading system like US sports.. Lui and or Moltzen would make great trade bait for a team desperate for a half, maybe willing to give up a rep prop..

Yeah...i'm sick of seeing Lui just looking at the ball when it goes to ground.. The only hussle that i remember from Lui is when he tackled and held up that Canberra (i think) player at LO last year...

Moltzen is quality, and i'm a massive fan of his, but i can't help but think he'd be off to central coast in a couple of years..

I just hope that Miller won't disappear back into U20's and be signed up by someone in need of a quality half, such as penrith...

Miller looks good, but no way should he be promoted up the pecking order above Lui. We just haven't seen enough. Remember Blake Lazarus, everyone thought he was a weapon because he smoked State Cup - but then he went on to have one of the worst debuts ever by a Tigers player.

Lui has come on in leaps and bounds since the back third of last season. He is our number 7, I have no doubts. He is just starting to take control and ignore the fact that Benji and Farah want to do everything.

Moltzen is well short of a run. He threw one decent pass, thats about it. Unfortunately he has a pea for a heart - he always has. The recent string of injuries is not going to do anything to help! You just watch him, he is afraid to be tackled and he will constantly shovel the ball off to someone else, even if they don't expect it. I don't doubt his class, but I think he has a long way to go.

I hate to say it but I agree with this. It's quite obvious Moltzen is afraid of any physical contact. That's not because of his knee, he always has been. I also don't doubt his class but I do doubt his ticker. He didn't do a thing in the first half, in fact apart from that nice pass he was very quiet. I understand he'll get better as he plays more games but at this stage it's Lui for me.

Sheens will find a way to accommodate all his players. Just because we have options in the halves doesn't mean you have to denigrate a player.

Moltzen is highly thought of by Sheens and it will take time for him to overcome his anxiety about returning and how his knee will stand up in a tackle. Read his history and his head injury. You then may understand how tough he is to still be playing.

The more game time Moltzen has, the better he will become.

As a separate issue, I am also glad we have Sheens with Fifita, BMM, Woods, Miller, Lui and Moltzen coming into the NRL. I am sure Sheens knows exactliy where each player is at and I have no doubt his presence and new contract will have a big bearing on the future of these players.

Look at the improvement in Fifita. Looks like a very good NRL player to me.

I've always thought Moltzen shied from contact..........but if he can keep performing like he did on Friday night I might just change my mind.

I thought Moltzen defended quite well on Friday? Understanding he is not there for his defence, but his tackle & mistackle count would have been reasonable. His attack was good & as you said he can only improve with each game he plays. I am sure with the fact that Lui will be back soon, will drive him on to bigger & better things.
