Interesting that Jahream ( along with Matthew Stewart & Liam Henry) are Batemans Bay boys but played for Canberra in Matthews Cup ? Had the Dragons been ignoring this area for this to happen or weren't they able to get into the Dragons Matthews Squad ?

Canberra often like St George / Illawarra do, look and scout down the South Coast. We dont own it.

Exactly, we don't own it and often lose good young guns because we are not on the ball. Unlike Penrith who has junior clubs which they have purchased. They tie up their juniors with scholarships and incentives and quickly sign the ones they think will do well under their junior club program.

Why do we invest so much time and effort developing a junior district only to let many good ones go to other NRL Clubs? Why to we go through all the drama at Board level, compromising what we know to be the right path forward only to see our standing in the NRL drop to the basement level?

The Roosters and the Storm demonstrate another way of doing business while the Panthers show how developing a junior district really should be done.

One can only wonder why we did not sign Gould to come in and work on our junior district structure and policy.

I haven't seen him play but he had big wraps on him (like most) we signed im sure it was a 4year deal and after 1 year he is gone without knowing the reasons we can only speculate.
A. Did he/parents/manager think we are utter shit and going nowhere
B. Did we think he wasn't up to it or bad attitude
C. Did he receive a better offer and they asked for a release
Always disappointing losing young talent, can't keep them all but you hope to keep the best ones..

Wollongong will soon play host to one of rugby league's brightest talents, with 15-year-old JC Ngarima set to join the St George Illawarra Dragons.
Ngarima recently signed a four-year contract with the Dragons after starring with the Canberra Raiders' Harold Matthews squad in 2019.

He backed up the long-term contract by winning the Australia Secondary Schools Rugby League Championships with the NSW Combined Catholic Colleges team earlier this month.
JC's dad, Peter, said it had been a massive year for his son.
"We had the Country Championships last October, and he was given a shot at trialling with the Raiders," he said. "He was selected in their 25-man squad, and started every game for them this year.
"He's now signed the four-year contract with St George Illawarra, and they've given him the option to play either in Sydney or Wollongong. We obviously picked Wollongong.
"The Raiders also offered him a deal, but they didn't really give him a plan for the future. The Dragons came on board, gave us a plan for the future, and are looking at him for under 20s and potentially first grade.
"We like what they're offering, what they've got to develop him as a player, so we picked them."
Mr Ngarima said the experience in Redcliffe was "awesome".
"He enjoyed it because he got to play with a lot of the boys he's been playing against since primary school," he said. "It was a really great bunch of kids.
"He was a little bit upset with himself because he knew he had the chance to crack the Australian merit team. It's something he wants to work on for next time."
JC's work ethic is what keeps him at the top of his game.

"He's a really humble kid," Mr Ngarima said. "I feel sorry for him sometimes, because he doesn't get the usual teenage experience.
"He doesn't get to go to the parties, he's usually working really hard at the gym.
"He also does what he can for his local clubs. We got back home pretty early on the Saturday morning from Redcliffe, and JC was back playing club footy that afternoon.
"He doesn't think he's a superstar, and I think that's his biggest asset."
Now JC will focus on next year's Harold Matthews competition with the Steelers.
"St George Illawarra told him he didn't have to play Harold Matts next year, but he loves a challenge," Mr Ngarima said. "He wants to compete with the best.
"They've told us to come up for training twice a week, and there are families that can assist us with getting him there."

Letting him go will be the worst decision the Dragons have made and will haunt us for years, the money issue seems to be a mystery to me, if the Bunnies offered way more than what we did , how can that be the case with the players they have in the system compared to ours, F*&K we must be paying some no hopers some big bucks, and to Mr Flannagan, thankyou so much for letting this go, you must obviously have your eye on some PNG players !!!! big mistake,,,,
