Jake wore the "Tillman" decal on his helmet in the last game. The NFL have said that this is not official uniform for anyone except the Cardinals players, and are going to fine him at least $30,000 each time he wears it. Does anyone know if the NFL actually went through with this threat?

I think it is a shame that a guy who was good friends with Tillman cant wear the decal, while a player that has been playing with the Cards only a little time, who probably didnt even meet the guy can wear it all year. I personally dont have a problem with Jake wearing the decal, I think it is a great sign of respect. I know the NFL had all players wear it in week 2, but why limit it to only the Cardinals players and not the rest of the league.

I think the NFL is going to far by making this rule, after all its a tiny decal on a helmet. Jake also said he doesnt care what "they" do, he is gonna wear it anyway.

What are your thoughts....?

I think its plain stupid that the NFL won't let players who knew Pat Tillman wear his decal, Jake knew the guy so in my opinion its a true sign of respect, a point well made Tim.

I got this from the NFL.com site

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/7790919

DENVER (Oct. 13, 2004) -- Broncos quarterback Jake Plummer agreed to stop wearing a sticker on his helmet in memory of an ex-teammate -- Pat Tillman -- killed in the war in Afghanistan, and the NFL agreed to find other ways to honor the slain soldier.

Plummer faced heavy NFL fines for wearing the small No. 40 sticker on his helmet in memory of Tillman, who played with Plummer at Arizona State and on the Arizona Cardinals.

Tillman quit football to join the Army Rangers. In April, he was killed in combat in Afghanistan.

The NFL agreed to play public-service spots in stadiums on Veterans Day that Plummer will record on behalf of the Pat Tillman Foundation.

The Broncos agreed to put a No. 40 logo near the play clock in the north end zone at Invesco Field at Mile High and to run ads promoting the foundation on the scoreboard during games.

And this statement form the NFL from the same site

We spoke to the Broncos and Jake's representatives and emphasized that we too want to continue to keep Pat Tillman's legacy alive, but that we have rules regarding personal messages on uniforms that we needed to apply consistently.

The idea of Jake doing a public service announcement relating to our service men and women arose during these discussions and we look forward to working with him on it and showing Jake's message in all our stadiums beginning on the weekend (Nov. 14-15) after Veterans Day.

We appreciate Senator McCain's interest as expressed in today's letter. We have worked with Senator McCain and his office on several tributes to Pat Tillman since his death. Senator McCain has most recently endorsed our $250,000 contribution to build the first USO facility in Afghanistan that will be named the Pat Tillman USO Center for the military men and women stationed there. The formal announcement of the Tillman USO Center will be made at the annual USO Gala tomorrow night in Washington.

For the record, Jake Plummer has not been fined for his actions on this issue and we have no intention of doing so. Rather, we look forward to working together with him.
