Jake Plummer

I always had my doubts about Plummer but from what I have seen from him this year, he is getting much better. He's thrown 19 touchdown with ten interceptions to date and only trails Peyton Manning and Daunte Culpepper in passing yards.

His receivers are the ones who have let him down and it's evident how much they miss Shannon Sharpe at TE. I think he has developed enormously over th epast two seasons.

Thoughts?

I havent seen enough of him to make a comment aside from his stats show. Obviously I always have looked at him as a dud but the fact is he definately is putting up a good showing this season.

For some reason I still dont see him being a QB id want at my team.

On his day Jake can be as good as any QB in the league. He's still capable of the occasional brain explosion, but some of the numbers he is putting up certainly show he is starting to become one of the Better QB's.

It really has been a great year for Quarterbacks this year with Drew Brees emerging from the pack. Also some of the numbers that Manning is putting up are something straight out of a Madden football game.

As ya probably know, im a huge fan of Plummer, he is as good as anyone when throwing on the run, he has only been in the team 2 years and alreaady has got a huge amount of respect from the rest of the team.
He does have "brain explosions" as many other quarterbacks do.. one comes to mind.. brett favre.. no-ones dissing him.

Anyway, i dont think plummer gets the credit he deserves, and as soon as he makes a couple of mistakes many people (including bronco supporters) come down on him like a tonne of bricks.. but when he throws 4 TD's.. twice in a row and makes some awesome throws, no-one even raises an eye brow.. many thinking its only a "one off" well, How many more "one offs" can the bloke have?????

I believe he is good enough to lead the Broncos to another superbowl, maybe not this year but in the next maybe... 5 - 10 years :D

Good middle-of-the-road QB but thats about it. Has the team around him that will let him perform but he's not doing it. He's far from useless but not a gun IMO. As far as stats go, for an 8 year veteran he isnt really showing much.
You mention following Culpepper in yds & yes it is by less than 100 but if you add Dauntes TD/INT (21/5) it looks a lot worse & DC has been around 2 years less. Three if you consider he only registered for 1 game in his first year & I dont think he even threw a ball.

Or McNabb (bet you didnt see that coming! ;-) ) 2081/14/4. Again, 6 years in & a team leader in the highest order.

And just because I may as well use my three fave QBs, Tom Brady. Only 1894 yds but 15/7 & again, a team leader.

Noboby is "dissing" Brett Favre for a reason. He has proven himself time & time again. I wouldn't be putting Jake "Dumb & Dumber" Plummer in the same boat as Favre, let alone the same freakin ocean. These two are so far apart in ball throwing & game reading that Jake might as well be playing Ice Hockey. Favre, although only just IMO, is still in the top tier of QBs, Plummer wouldnt even top the best of the rest.

I remember about five years ago when Plummer was with the Cardinals, and he went and won a playoff game at Dallas. I thought he was going to be something special.

The only time I have seen the Broncos this year was against the Bengals, and to be honest I thought he struggled big time.

He played a great game against Atlanta and they still lost but IMO, the receivers were more to blame, not him.

I think he is improving under an excellent coach and his stats this year tell a different story to every other year in his career. If he continues in the same vein he may crack 4000 yards and 30 touchdowns and if he achieves that, then he is a top tier QB IMO.

Come on Legend, blinkers off. One season dont maketh the man. Nor two for that matter. Put him in a 49ers or Cowgirls or Falcons or whoever jersey & say the same thing!

The same could be said for many QB's. Would Montana have been as great as he is if he didn't have Rice and Clark to throw to or a great defensive unit keeping him on the field longer?

From what I have seen this year, he seems to have risen another level and I'm prepared to cut him some slack. Apart from Rod Smith, he doesn't have many more options but he's stiull getting the job done.

At least McNabb has Owens.

Remember when McNabb was drafted by the eagles.. Many fans hated him and booed him, the same with Terry Bradshaw at the start of his careerr many fans wanted him gone, But after a few years they realised the amount of skill he possessed, like McNabb thesedays. You eagle fans wouldnt trade him for (almost) anything.

Lets wait a few years to see if Plummer can also prove himself ;-)

When McNabb was booed it was because of some RB named Ricky Williams. Apparently he can run ok & some supporters thought he was worth the spot.

So to be fair in comparisons, the Broncs picked up Plummer where McNabb is now. The fairer question is who would you rate more, Plummer from two years ago or the McNabb of today? Bias aside I know where my money would go.

As far as waiting a few years, I think you'll find he'll be sitting with his feet up retired by then.

FMD, Plummer is useless. Six int's in his past two games is a disgrace and it shows a lack of execution and timing on his behalf. I hope Shanahan can see Plummer is not the answer because he knows how to flick a player if they aren't performing and Plummer aint performing.

I gave him a huge benefit of the doubt but the stats don't lie. Six int's and no TD's is worse than rookie standard. If we can't beat Miami, I don't want Denver in the playoffs.

I was following this game on ESPN web site ....

I think twice in the second half Plummer threw INT's in the Miami Red Zone....

Lucky win for the Broncos...

Yeah, I was with you BuffaloRules not believing what I saw given our poor excuse for a running game, we had no right to be in this to the end. We also gave up near enough 200 yards on the ground to Bell and Droughns...what I would give for one of those 2 RBs at the moment. Or how about my Miami Hurricanes boy Willis McGahee? ;-)

Out of the whole season for mine, seeing McGahee running for all those years is the highlight...here we have a guy who has fought back proving the doubters wrong. The best college back I have ever seen LIVE and /or on TV is getting it done in the NFL and will run Henry out of town.

On 2nd thoughts, I would settle for Henry ;-)

Half those INTs were from drops by the WR. I dont blame Plummer for giving the fans the finger, who knows what they were saying to him. But i dont think he shoulda. But like us fans.. Plummer is also frustrated. Im still all for him!

The Bills took a big risk on McGahee so its good to see that it ( appears ) to have come off.

He looks to be a tremendous talent, and I'm confident he will improve heaps next year as well.

I feel a bit sorry for Henry.... he is a quality player and I'm sure he will find a good home... I don't think it will be the Dolphins though.... :D

Sadly, your right :(

I think we will be heading to the draft with a RB in mind. Texas RB Cedric benson looks like a guy who could carry the load for an NFL Team ;-) Funnily enough, Benson is the guy who I am pretty certain owns Ricky Williams's records at Texas after this season. (don't quote me though I know both players are 1-2 respectively)
