JDF Warriors 76 Duhaney Park Sharks 4

The Jamaica Defense Force Warriors hammered the Duhaney Park Sharks 76-4 on Saturday June 30. It was a shocking display from the Sharks who were looking to overtake the soldiers in the race for the League title.

The Soldiers raced to an early 12 pts lead within 10 minutes and the Sharks never recovered. By the middle of the second half the Soldiers were scoring tries at will as the hapless Sharkies meekly surrendered.

Awesome Soldiers

The soldiers have been awesome all season, this is the second time they have scored over 70 points. They showed that training 4-5 days a week and being in the Army does have its benefits. They were brutal in the physical encounters and the smaller Sharks players were taken as POWs all day. The Soldiers effectively used the two giants in their ranks to pulverize the smaller Sharks into the hard ground at Up Park camp. Brian Martin at 6'8 and over 240 pounds along with "Shrek" the wreck (6"6 240), had 4-5 Sharks dragging on their legs all afternoon. When the two big men got tired from their exploits the ball went wide to blazing wingers who played with smiles on their faces all day.

A Hard Knock Day
For their effort the Sharks came off the Army base with countless abrasions, muscle strains and tears and their travelling fans still asking .."what the heck just happened". The kind of day the Sharks had, can be summed up when their electrifying rookie winger Mathew Simms finally got a ball and blazed 50 metres, just as he approached to the try line with two soldiers in hot pursuit, he threw the ball into the air and clutched tightly to his hamstring as he crashed to the ground with cramps. Claude "chinno" Yen who went to England in '05 to try out for the Windies Team that faced South Africa, also limped off the field with a pulled Hammy (He pulled it in England too and didnt make the Windies team).

The Olympic Angels shocked the Jamaica Constabulary Force Knights 32-17 at the Knights home ground and moved to 4th position. It was the first victory for the Angels in the JRLA competition and the bruised Sharks will be wary when they visit them at home July 9.
