Anyone else see the amusing little excerpt from the Mole in the GF edition of League Week? Seems Jarrad Anderson could very well be a Bulldog next season!

I hope they enjoy his services..

I heard the very same thing today from a disgusted Bulldogs fan who said he'd heard it from a "well-placed source".

I say that too, Schnoz. IMO he was used as the trigger by the Board so that Sharks fans could become the butt of everybody's jokes.
Haven't seen Blacktip around here lately. Guess he's done the job he was sent here to do and is off collecting his reward. At least he's not hanging around gloating. That's something, I guess?

I know that Jarrad has copped a lot of criticism on these discussion boards, but I do think that a lot of it has been a bit harsh. He hasn't been the worst performer for the Sharks in 2003, at least in my opinion, and has no doubt copped a lot of flak simply because he is the coach's son in a team that has not been travelling very well.

The way that he was retrenched, sacked, dismissed, whatever you want to call it, by the club, was very unprofessional and totally undeserved. I do not bear him a grudge or blame him for our ineptitude in 2003 and wish him all the best, wherever he ends up, in 2004.

Agreed. While he made mistakes last year, he was hardly alone in that. He copped a lot because of who his father is.

Best of luck to him (well, as much as I would wish any Bulldogs player!).

He was rubbish and he shouldnt have ever been in our first grade side. The fact that he was is my main problem with his father.

Once he moves on I couldnt care less how he goes. Good riddance I say.

I thought Jarrod Anderson did a fair job while he was a Shark. Good luck to him in the future.

Marduk, your assessmnet of JA is pretty accurate considering the rest of the Sharks only did a fair job too

Conspiracy theorist...

Face it, he sucked, he wasn't a first grader, he would have played first grade all year if he stay here and CA is a tool for picking him all year!!

Ever played First Grade or against those who have, Aries? They're a cut above your park footballer. I wouldn't have picked him. IMO Anderson was not up to standard, but he was still a first grade footballer. I've seen a hell of a lot better. And I have also seen a few worse. I don't blame Anderson Jnr. for our current problems and it seems to me that the Board handled the matter very badly.
Me? A conspiracy theorist? Off you go to your little temple to worship your master, Blacktip Reefy.

Thanks Popper. That's why I defended the guy earlier in this discussion.

I used to think of myself as a pretty handy centre in my younger days. Played first grade for Rosedale-Lowmead in the Northern Districts comp (country area north of Bundaberg; Gary Larson and Les Kiss started their careers there at the same time I was playing) and scored a lot of tries, then moved up a notch to play in the Bundaberg competition with Natives (apart from Larson and Kiss, Tony Rea was starting to make his mark there). Still scored fairly free and managed to make the Wide Bay rep side to play in the Queensland Cup.

Our first match was against Souths (Brisbane) at Salter Oval in Bundaberg and I was hoping that this was going to be a match where I could show off my skills to the selectors and hopefully land a gig down south, with a view to eventually playing in Sydney. My opposite centre was another than M Meninga and I was shown in no uncertain terms how out of my depth I was. The big fellow ran at me all day and I think he ended up scoring three tries. Managed to save a few tries, running down both Mal and Gary Belcher, but I was shell shocked by how much faster, stronger and physical the Souths players were. I can't remember the final score, something like 58-12 seems to stick in my mind, but it was enough to make me realise that I was never going to be good enough to cut the mustard in first grade.

I admire anyone who has played first grade. It's a huge step up from park footy and Jarrad did enough in my opinion to demonstrate that a lot of the criticism he has received has been a tad unfair. Some are better than others, true, but he was by no means the worst player for the Sharks this year and I do wish him all the best for the future.

Yep, I learned the hard way too, Freezer. You see some of these blokes out on the paddock and may not think much of them, but it is a different story when matched up against them. I played against a handful of players with top grade experience. One of them I had a very low opinion of, but when I faced him on the paddock I was just about made look a complete goose. That changed my mind very quickly, and from that moment I respected all of them for what they were - First Grade footballers.
Bloody Big Mal woulda been a handful - built like a Mack truck and the best rep record of any topline player ever. I sure don't envy you that task.
