Jason Campbell's fault or the play calling?

When the Redskins get into 3rd and long you can almost guarantee they won't get the yardage needed. JC throws a 3 yard pass to Cooley hoping for a run after the catch or he throws it to a receiver just before the 1st down marker.
When I've seen the Skins play this is what happens, I've rarely seen JC throw the ball past the 1st down marker on 3rd down.
Any thoughts?

mayb hes expecting his receivers to make a play, or the D is running adeep coverage and making him throw short.idk i dont really watch the skins play. but when they were 5-0 or something everyone was praising JC for playing effeciently and getting the clutch thrd down passes w/o turning the ball over.
i doubt whether his ablity is lacking just the defense has adjusted to his recent success.

JC has just been to predictable imo.

you can see it in Moss's play. Moss was gun at the start of the year and has just fallen off the pedal allmost.

Its the playcalling imo.

Its having a new OC and playbook every year since he was a starting QB.

Early in the year he was completing on 3rd down, now he is coming up short. I dont think it is a huge problem, but teams are covering the marker on 3rd and he is going under the coverage like instructed in a west coast offence.

He didnt have as many locg 3rd downs when CP was dominating teams. It seems the multitude of carries has caught up with him. I expected more out of Betts TBH.

The Redskins play a west coast offense, but only when passing not running the ball.

There are a few variation of the west coast offense around, but usually what is consistent about the offense is that there is no or at least very few long passes thrown. Its up to the reciever to gain the ground after catching the pass. So you need recievers who are bigger and stronger. The Skins this year drafted two big recievers in Kelly and Thomas.

Both of them slipped down the pecking order in pre-season though, through poor performance, injury or just being plain stupid.

Devin Thomas is working his way into the slot, where I think he can really dominate.

We have under used Fred Davis IMO.

Good points, but at some stage you have to at least throw the ball past the first down marker, I'm talking about 3rd and 8 or 3rd and 9 these aren't exactly deep past plays. You need to keep the defence guessing.
If you keep passing short and hoping for the catch and run the defence can sit back in a zone around the first down line and pick off the receiver.
I'm not saying the Skins have been doing this all season but the past couple of games it was so obvious it stood out like dogs balls.
