No, I don't. If you've read my posts on the forum over time you'll note I give the club credit when credit's due, even when others do not. If you look at the evidence of Turbo's latest hamstring injury, you'll probably come to the conclusion it was Manly's doing most likely. Tom has not injured his hamstring for the last 18 months. The medical guy managing Turbo's hamstring has moved on to the dogs this pre season. With a new coaching staff at Manly, and a new medical staff, it's fair to assume they did not fully understand how to manage his hamstring issues. Whether they gave him too much workload, or had him doing things he shouldn't have been doing and wouldn't have been doing under the old medical staff's watch is unknown. But it is entirely likely they mismanaged turbo's hamstring, hence the injury. Remember, last season he did his shoulder, not his hamstring. His hamstring has been successfully managed for more than a year and half, and is it a coincidence that when new coaching and medical staff come in he re-injures his hamstring? I doubt it. Fair play to Manly though, because they have since acknowledged they don't know how to deal with the issue themselves and sent him to the US. So that's what I say about manly and turbo.

With Sullivan, of course it can be bad luck. But, I feel as though he has likely been mismanaged and overworked given his previous history of hamstrings. As a player so young, these injuries will hamper his career and potentially destroy it if it is not sorted out now. He needs to be managed correctly.
I don't discount the possibility that mismanagement could be Sullivan's problem, however, I don't know that there is enough info to draw that conclusion and say it is "clearly" a fact.

If Rufus Rex is right, that it is not the same leg that is the problem, I'm not willing to blame mismanagement. The view that his body is yet to get used to the rigours seems more likely to me.

If he gets on top of this issue, better before the season kicks off then later.

if Sullivan, misses out with this injury, I'd rather have Mbye at 6 than Bird, the way the forward pack is looking atm I'd prefer Bird in the forwards, either way it will be a horrendous way to start the season and Hook better have his bags packed by R5 . Anyway lets hope some miracle happens and Sullivan gets a shot. Here we are 2023 and we still have no idea if Sullivan will be able to handle week to week NRL torture or if he can even cut it at NRL level at being a 6. Just as pie in the sky stuff in my opinion I think we should give Sloan a go at 6, put Mbye at 1 until hopefully Ramsay is back.

Hamstrings actually never fully repair and they become scarred and more prone to further damage and can pop doing even doing the slightest exercise so no matter how careful staff are if the hammie is dodgy then it will always be so.

Whilst conditioning staff etc all move around I am sure that the specialists and there tends to be a few that are known and trusted who treat the injuries would have a strict protocol that the player needs to follow and therefore the conditioning staff would also be up to speed.

True, but if he doesn't play trials he won't start round 2. Might grab the 14 though.
Maybe but there are some players that are kept from playing a lot of trial time and still play R1
Besides he might be able to start striding out in rehab in a few weeks ( it is a strain not a tear)
We don’t play till around mid March and that is the Titans at our home.. easy one 😉
We will wait and see 🙏

Maybe your suggestion might not be too bad justa.

Old Timer makes a good observation.

Hamstring injuries are just so capricious.

I was plagued with the left hammy strains all my life. Only left not right. At various times I had chiropractic treatments which seemed to help. Physio treatments and I could put my nose almost on my big toe and had massages. Yet, without embellishing this experience I have still strained this left hammy at least 20 times in last 40 years odd.

Yet, I have seen genuine flying machines athletes who can run 11 second or better 100 metres that simply jog a couple of laps and do a few toe touches and stride through with increasing speed as a warm up and never have a hammy problem. Go figure?

I remember Benny Hunt had a bad hamstring tear with Broncos which sidelined him 9 weeks. Yet we have had 5 clear seasons with him.

Clearly they are not managing Sullivan's workload effectively given his previous hamstring issues. They have to be stupid not to manage him differently. This all but guarantees Mbye will be starting the season at 6, and hook's love for older and more experienced guys will most likely mean Sullivan struggles to take the jersey off him. What a year this will be....
If Ramsey is fit to play fullback, then Sloan to 6 and Mbye to 14.
