Hey Hillybilly is one of my personal mates from the Cove. His attiyude about what he experienced at Newtown matches is exactly why I started becoming attracted to the team. A nice sense of community, extremely friendly people selling you merchandise entry to the ground or even a hot dog or beer, a cheap day out watching high standard sport (where players take risks and dare to do things that don't come off) & a great sense of old world retro spirit back at the Henson Park Hotel after the game.

A trip to a Newtown match is not only a trip to watch rugby league what it used to be like. It is a glimpse as to what Sydney used to be like, where Newtow was a suburb full of working class people, battlers with an ideosyncratic streak in them.

I hope to be there with bells on tomorrow at 4pm. I don't know many people, so I'll look for where people are making noise I guess.

The Newtown Jets have brought me back to Rugby League. And I'm happy with that (despite remaining an AFL & football fanatic)

Blood oath son!!! go to Henson with NO personal security worries, good conversation and friendly atmosphere all of which is unsuparssed anywhere else in R/L (no goons itching to turf a bloke out IF he appears to be enjoying himself - attention Telstra & Aussie Stdm) and best of all see the Jets play REAL teams like North Sydney, Balmain and Wests etc, real "old timey" Sydney footy! sure beats the crap on offer by the NRL! ie the Leichhardt/Ashfield/Campbelltown Tigers!:thumbd:
