Jets home ground

Does anyone know why the Jets changed their home ground this year from North Ipswich Reserve to Briggs Road?

Ipswich actually played at Briggs Road last year as well.

Someone closer to the Ipswich scene can give you more details, but my feeling is that the North Ipswich Reserve is the home of the Ipswich Rugby League which is a separate organisation to the Jets. There has traditionally been some conflict between the two so the move to Briggs Road would give the Jets more autonomy in regards to the ground.

Also means that there won't be clashes at the Reserve with local matches.

Not sure about the ownership situation for Briggs Road.

I never understand when local football and the team representing the region can't work together. I guess there's always politics in sport.

Same sort of conflict between the local and the bigger team happens in Newcastle.
