Jets Season draw ????

Was checking out the 2006 season draw for the Jets. Have a couple of questions.

firstly is this the final and correct season draw. I thought the problem of some teams playing other teams once during the year instead of twice was rectified fairly last season, when for the first time since 2000 in premier league every team played every other team twice each.

Looking at the current draw Jets will play Souths, Cronulla, and Wests THREE times during the year, and Cougars, Newcastle, and Balmain only ONCE.

Now if the capitol lettered games stand for home games at Henson that means we will play 13 Henson games this season, and 11 away games ( 13 with the two byes ). THAT I DO LIKE. Or is there to be games at the Roosters home ground this season classified as HOME games ????

We will not have to travel to Newcastle all season as the game is at Henson. We will only have to play against THOMMO'S Cougars once however will have to travel as it is an away game.

But was about the Shield with balmain. I guess that will be decided in one game this year instead of the aggragate of two games ???

Yeah the draw has gone backwards. It would be nice if they could make all teams have 12 home games and 12 away games with each team playing every other team twice.

Every year the draw throws up those problems. It isn't very fair I agree. You'd think that there are enough rounds to have a proper home and away draw that you would do that.

The irony is not lost on me. The reason they do this is because many NRL clubs don't want to have stand alone PL games. They argue against it because of the costs and resources they have to put in to spread out their fixtures. What the heck? They are NRL clubs. They have loads of staff - volunteer and paid and they have budgets two dozen times the size of Newtown.

When it comes to poorer clubs (like Newtown and Norths) the concern isn't there. Newtown have stand alone Jim Beam Cup games and the Bears have the same with the Flegg. You'd think that the burden should be met by those that can afford it best not by clubs that have to spend every last cent to get the teams out on the park.

Wests Magpies agreed to tranfser one of their home games to Henson Park. I think it will mutually benefit both clubs.

Wests did that last year as well be memory. Just surprises me how last season every team played every other team twice and it was fair. Why change back. Like Girvie stated, its a backwards step.

So the shield against Balmain will be a one game affair this season. Wonder if it is a home or away game ?? Few Jets from last season in the Balmain jersey as well in 2006.

Balmain should have a good side this season. Maybe it is an advantage to only play them once. Guess time will tell as each teams form develops. I am hoping that Newcastle, Cougars and Balmain are gun sides this season and that playing them only once works in our favour. I am also looking forard to playing against the Sharks three times during the season. Should be interesting and passionate encounters.

Souths has for some reason always lifted when we have played them so dont know if that is a good thing at all playing them three times. We have only beaten them once out of about 6 games by memory. They r one of our bogey sides for sure. Not playing the Knights in Newcastle this season must be a good thing as they r always tough to beat when at home. I think we have only ever beaten them once up there and that was the first game of season 2004 and it was a close game too with jets only just scarpin in by 2 to 4 points at the end.

Would feel better is we only played St George, Canberra and Parramatta once during the season though. Guess some teams were lucky enough to only play against these teams once. The draw is definately unfair !!!!.
