That's poor, so close to the start of the season. Surely they would've realised this earlier. why accept an invitation you cannot fulfil?

Does that mean we have byes now?

I got a fright when I saw this Bluebag. To hear Bluebag talking about a Jets withdrawal, I feared the worst.

When you think about it the signs were there.

Narellan are just a country team. a lot of people think these sorts of teams can compete in JBC. Some of the JBC expansionists talk about the need for Riverina, Dubbo etc. It just doesn;t work that way. You need money and depth, both of which can be scarce in the bush. I know Narellan is close to Sydney but the point stands. I don't know that it would be worthwhle readmitting them. Shouldn't we concentrate on teams that have money (Asquith, Guildford, Arncliffe etc).

so has this reduced the comp to a 11 team comp Bluebag or is there a mystery new inclusion?
I thought they would struggle this year but after they developed ties with the Magpies I thought they could maybe be a suprise packet.
What has happened to most of their signings then? Will they play for Narellan in Group 6 or find new clubs.
I noticed Jason Small at Guildford A-Grade training the other day and found it odd. Now i find this news it all makes sense.
I think country teams can suceed in the Jim Beam Cup though always thought Narellan would struggle without the support of a Leagues Club.
Camden Rams would be a much more viable option and if done properly would not weaken the Group 6 competiton.
Perhaps a combined team representing the best of the Group 6 comp and comprising of the best players would be the best option though and would be the best thing for the game in the area.

11 teams at this stage I think. Though the way Asquith went against us they'd put up a good fight in JBC.

I think any bush team (Camden or Narellan) would srtruggle. As someone said on another thread, lets just leave these outer teams out of it (Central Coast excepted).

Jeffles mate I can tell you money was not the problem for Narellan, rather it was some other factors, mainly involving players which put them in the position where they and the NSWRL agreed it would be in the best interest of both the competition and the club if they spent a year on the sidelines and only competed in Group 6.

I heard about the players earlier today.

I know money isn't that necessary. Newtown competes in JBC on a small budget. But don't you think that if they had some cash they could've attracted a few players from around the traps. Bush teams invariably struggle because of this.

While I didn't forese this happening, you must admit it was always pretty likely. IMO it is not good enough for one of the NSWRL flagship to undergo this sort of change so close to the season's start. Hopefully the NSWRL learn and are more stringent with their applicants.
