Shellharbour have snared Gateshead Thunder utility back Kevin Neighbour, former Thirroul and Corrimal rake Lewis McPhail, ex Black Mohamed Hijazi, 2006 Picton Magpie Bryce Poisel and Dragons' prop Jaimie Dunning. This is on top of retaining a large portion of last year's squad.

It will at least show the difference in skill levels between premier league and the JB Cup

I dont know how that is relevant The structure of the over age competition will probably bring elements of both competitions

What it will show is the numbers and the impact of under 20s players on the premier league further foreshadowing the youth competition

Shellharbour and Chester Hill are unknown quantities at this stage. Two players, Lulia Lulia and Clark Webb, who were originally claimed to have signed with Shellharbour are in fact playing with Illawarra clubs next year. Until we see some evidence of some quality players I would have Shellharbour in the bottom 4.

Also the points system will be crucial for the new clubs. The only money Mounties have been putting into League in recent years is sponsoring Parramatta, so their A grade teams have been pub standard so they will likely have few players with loyalty discounts. The 8 players signed will be worth about 68 points which leaves only 32 for the other 9 starters. Chester Hill may have similar problems with loyalty discounts.

The Seven Hills squad for 2006 was:

Tim Wynn, James Storer, Luke Ackroyd, Michael Kassab, Simon Bungate, Adam Fallon, Trent Waicokacola, Shane Thaw, Barney Haslett, Mark Curtis, Michael Johnson, Shad Hayward, Josh Chaplin, Dave Johansen, Matt Kelly, Michael Learmont, Daniel Hearn, Scott Heap, Tony Faalavaau, David Schultz, Greg Cranney, Chris Hately.

Coaches: Tim O’Brien and Danny Farrer.

No big names but Storer has several seasons in Premier League, Wynn also played P/L this year, 8 have played JB or Metro and another 4 Flegg. With discounts they could probably fit in 5 more P/L players (Peachey being one), so they should be competitive.

100 points per team. Points depend on past experience and these are then discounted by 1 point for each completed season with the club, including junior teams, up to 5 points. So if all 17 players have played 5 years with the club you could have a base score of 185. The system changes each year but I think it is something like this.

NRL, ESL - More than 22 games - 20 points
NRL, ESL - 4 to 22 games - 10 points
NRL, ESL - 1 to 3 games - 8 points
P/L, Qld Cup - more than 22 games - 10 points
P/L, Qld Cup - 4 to 22 games - 8 points
JB, Metro, bartercard - more than 22 games - 8 points
JB, Metro, Bart - 4 to 22 games - 6 points
CRL Divisional rep - 6 points
Flegg, CRL 1st grade - 4 points
All others - 2 points
