There were 3 games played today. The two Jets teams were back together at Henson after a long absence. The JB side took on a Souths side that was reinforced by Jovan Clarke, the fastest rugby league player in Australia. The diminutive fullback scored 3 tries as Souths won 48-24. souths were laston the table 5 weeks ago but this win puts them into 5th spot if only for 24 hours.

On a chilly night at Windsor, the locals were attempting to secure the Shaun Laurie Cup (The Entrance fullback is a Windsor junior). Windsor led 30-12 well into the second half before an injury to fullback Chan Ly required positional changes that resulted in Parramatta utility John Mckie filling the wing position. The Entrance targeted his side and 3 late tries locked the score at 30 all.

After field goal attempts from both sides Windsor benchman Ed Manuel made a massive charge at the line only to lose the ball over it. The Entrance had the final possession and many passes were thrown after the final siren and a last ditch tackle allowed the Wolves to hang on to 1 point.

A post by Yappy on the Wests/Mittagong thread indicates that Ourimbah beat Erina to join them on 10 points.

The Bulls gave away 2 valuable competition points today through negligent finishing. Enough opportunities were created to post 12 tries but the resulting 6 proved insufficient as Tony Wignell's goal kicking got the struggling Ryde Eastwood side over the line.

The decision to rest 5 regular starters must be questioned. This can easily lead to complacency and give their opponents a big incentive to perform.

Ryan Asplet and Shane Shackleton, playing their first games in 10 weeks were very effective for the Bulls, as were Moffatt, Tippett and Salem. Ryde's Trent Robinson has some skills and fullback Massey is very dangerous in broken play. Andrew wharton, recently arrived from NZ was the best of the Ryde forwards.

The Bulls have now not won for 4 weeks and they face a resurgent Souths next week.

I would be very interested in Kelvin Jeffe's report on todays ref. Some vital calls were unfathomable.

Today's paper a had a full page on Justin Bishop, formerly a backrower with St Marys, who played very little of the 2001 season due to 2 lenghty suspensions. I had no idea that the reason he had disappeared was the imposition of a 3 year term at her majesty's pleasure.

Shaun Laurie Cup! Very humourous Metroman. Good to see someone else getting in on the joke.

If Newtown and Souths Juniors were to have a Cup, the engraving would cost a fortune
