JBC beat the Australian Affiliated States easily tonight in the first game of the ARL Quad Series. JBC won 54-8 at Tamworth. Brian Tritton, Brad Barrett and Drew Dalton scored two tries each. They play NSW Country on Saturday at Narrabri. Country beat the Qld Rangers 40-22.

Not an unexpected result for the JBC team but since most of the affiliated states players come from WA they clearly have a lot of recruiting to do for next year before they enter JBC.

I just posted a message on another thread about where WA Reds were planning on getting their players from - which will surely be difficult (they'll need to convince players to move to Perth and presumably try to find them a job).

If they go into the JBC with only local competition players they are going to get thrashed each week which won't be good for expansion - though, Good news for the Demons, I guess - at least it would be a team they could beat...

I heard that Sydney or other JB cup based players who sign for the Reds will or have the option of staying and training in Sydney and only travel to Perth for their home games the day before the game or something similar. This is so they can keep their current jobs. Vice versa for players in Perth. That was a while ago though. Can't see how having the teem split up will do them many favours in relation to building combinations and set-plays and such. :?

I saw the manager and coach for the Australian Affiliated States team who are also involved with the Reds for next year and asked them about it. They said they are currently looking for players to sign from the east coast. They have scouts on the look out for the right people and expect to bring at least 6 players over, but they probably won't sign anyone till later this year. They said the team will helped with jobs, including some development officer jobs and will be paid like most other players and will train three nights a week. They said they will get 11 home games and 11 away and they plan to travel to Sydney the day before games and leave staright after. They have plenty of sponsors and they expect to get bigger crowds than most of the Sydney sides do. Chris Dever is the coach. He was a Western Reds player and is an ARL development officer in Perth.

I believe the conditioning coach for the Perth Reds is Matt Fuller, inaugural captain of the Sydney Bulls in 2000. He also played for the Reds (and Wests and Souths and St George and Canterbury!).

When you consider they played against the BEST of the JBC it really isn't much of a reflection on how the side is goin 2 go next season, but u r right we do need 2 do alot of recruiting hopefully focusing on forwards as the REDS lack size if they can pick up 4 decent forwards i think we should be ok.

i know this will prolly sound bias but its just my opinion
