It is too early too tell as noone knows who teams have signed or lost for the season. If anyone knows it will be good if they can post. I would say that the Bulls and The Entrance will be strong again.

From a Newtown point of view we have not graded anyone as yet and will be holding an open trial this Saturday at Henson weather permitting.

Rego at 3pm trials at 4pm.

The points system makes shifts in relative strength difficult so the main focus is will the 2 new sides be competitive.

Asquith had a strong squad last year and finished runners up in the Parramatta A Grade but they have lost 4 players - Bill Ngawini, Richard Retimana, Scott Webb and Brendon Solomon to the Norths Premier League squad. Mark Horo has taken over as coach so I am sure he will be recruiting judiciously from the Penrith League to fill these gaps. Belrose is a mystery at this stage.

Cabramatta has lost a number of players. Norths Premier League squad has also picked up 4 players from the 2 blues - Casey Ellis, Joe Swamy, Chris Weaver and Steve Hailes. Ellis will be a big loss, he provides a lot of the go forward. Weaver performed well in the Cabra reserve grade last year and played the last few games in JB. He seems to have some potential but he is also listed in the Parra P/L sqaud. Hailes has struggled to get out of the Guildford and Cabra reserve grades over the last 3 years but did play for Norths in the Junior reps and was runner up to Mark Gasnier in player of the comp award one year.

Cabra have also lost Robbie Payne to Wollongong Collegians and Jolly may have retired so Terry Lamb's team could struggle.

The 7's at Windsor next week might unveil a few more player movements.

Norths have a 35-man Premier League squad at the moment so i'd imagine that some of them will spend some time with Asquith throughout season.

Newtown is looking at a number of new players in the trials as we offer young players a chance to see if they can produce at a higher level. We have retained some of last years young talent including Hamilton Hughes who excelled in each week, excited crowds and proved a real find fro park football. He toured with the JB Residents team to NZ and also made his debut in PL against the Bulldogs and faced up to Sonny Bill Williams bringing him down with great defence ball and all and scored two tries.

Just hoping we can pick up some more Hamilton Hughes in the future.

None, some ex Rooster, Panthers flegg and SG Ball players plus some bartercard cup players, QLDers and country hopefuls. About 50 players all up and some looked very good talent among others who did try.

A better trial than we had in the last few years.

Kyle White is kicking up a stink about Ourimbah's draw. Their first six games are away from home. Ricky Walford from NSWRL will see if there is ant room for negotiating an amendment to the draw. Ourimbah have 15 new players training.
