Can someone please now tell me the difference between that hit, and this one?
It happened to a Storm player so noone cares.

With the amount of shit they get away with, and the disgrace they have brought to the game through their cheating and unsportsmanlike tactics I couldn't care less.

f**k them. f**k them all.

I really don't care what team he plays for, it's about player protection in general. In the 80's we had players going out their trying to break opponents' jaws, I thought we'd moved on slightly from those days...

I'm surprised no-one has yet mentioned this incident. I am not a Storm fan, but I get so angry every time I watch this video, especially knowing that he didn't even miss a match!

Apparently the difference is 12 weeks!

No the difference is that Newton intentionally cocked his elbow and aimed it so it hit the player in the face whereas Thompson's unraised elbow happened to hit the player high. Penalty sufficient.

Pretty simple really, try again soon.

pause the video at 0:08. He's airborne, there's contact with the elbow AND knee.

The judiciary wouldn't know the meaning of the word 'consistency'.

Joel's left upper thigh makes contact, you dolt, not the knee.

Honestly, at the time I thought it was going to get 2-3 weeks. He was still cited, from memory, but got off because of early plea.

The two tackles are quite different. As someone else points out, Newton cocked his elbow and intentionally hit a player high.

And f**k the Storm.

Yay Storm bashing! The Storm are a bunch of cheating pricks... If they spent more time on playing well and less time on learning how to push every f**king rule to the limit they might actually be interesting to watch... Next to St.Merge they are the most BORING team to watch going around...

BTW feel free to watch the Storms "Big Hit" from Round 19 and please tell me why Smith wasn't penalised, he gets called out, holds his ground forcing McCrone to pass (whom otherwise would have had a clear run to the try line) yet nothing happens... And that's basically the Storms bread and butter play... Keep both markers wide yet do it so f**king often the refs are too chicken shit to penalise it...

Can't cheat the salary cap? I'm sure that just means they have found a better way to cheat... Least sportsmen like side ever to grace professional sport in Australia, and that includes the AFL teams (so yeah typical f**king Victorians)...
