i don't have a problem with him watching the game, not at all.

i'm just wondering, did he pay for a ticket or was he a 'guest' of Ch 7 or was he paid to attend by sponsors.

there is symbolism involved in the ARL captain attending the RU final.

I watched it too, but to let yourself be used like that as promotion for the ARU is disgraceful.... what a disgrace that the Australian Rugby League "captain" let himself be put in such a position. Incredible and stupid and it should have been ruled out by the NRL and ARL. I can't believe that they didn't.

So Andrew Johns as human being isn't allowed to go and watch a game of football because some people on a discussion forum think it is wrong for him to do so GROW UP

Sure, go to the game, I don't care. But do you think that the ARU would allow George Gregan to appear on Channel 9 promoting the NRL Grand Final? It is not a matter of growing up. It is a matter of people recognising what desperate measures the ARU is going to to destroy our game..... and they are using us in the process... signing high profile players... etc etc... it is a very deliberate strategy... and we are just rolling over and playing into their hands.

So I suggest you grow up and realise the extent of the manipulation going on here.

Destorying our game how? 3 players jumped ship and they are destroying our game. Andrew Johns goes to a Union World Cup final and we are being manipulated.

I wonder what you would of said if it was the Soccer world cup final and Johns was there?

Same thing. You see Rove McManus on Channel 7 promoting their product? No. We are crazy even recognising this publicly.

This is devestating news. What a shocking development....

BTW, Eddie Jones (not the basketballer but the Union coach), openly admits to watching league. No-one gives a shit.

Gildey and some other knights have been on rugby club house when it was on. The Wallabies watched the NRL grand final and that made the news.

Meh who really cares...

Johns didn't ask to appear on TV.

Players from 4 Rugby Union WC teams were at the World Cup and were on TV.

And in a press conference the Wallabies said they watched it on TV together.

I dont think Johns watching the RWC final is part of some master scheme of the ARU's.....for gods sake it is the biggest sporting event in Australia so why wouldnt Johns go if he could get tickets.

Im sure Ive seen Wallabies on TV before at League games in the past...

People are reading too much into this. Unknown Pleasures is 100% correct, the biggest sporting event in Australia in 2003 and he is human. Does he have to be the sole property of Rugby League where he is not allowed to watch Rugby Union?

Mat Rogers and Joey were both seen at Cronulla games last year during the finals. Doesn't mean we will get either of them

 Its quite scary how paranoid some people are here.

Wow Andrew Johns was on Channel 7, with the main aim of it all to promote QANTAS' new skybed, remember QANTAS the sponsor of the Knights? and the NRL itself? as well the referees?

He was no ARU pawn, besides as many people pointed out there is a huge number of people who play one sport and are fans of others. A lot of the Sydney Kings and Wildcats players are League fans, and you see the occational article about it, does this mean Basketball is going to collaspe? Nah

Also how many times has Eddie Jones spoken about League? the current Ashes tour and the Kangaroos? Does this mean the end of Union? Nah

Cricketers have shown their support for League, the Waugh brothers are both known for being Bulldogs fans.

Personally, I feel it worked better for League, cause a lot of people from overseas would of seen Andrew Johns on the screen, told he was one of the best 'rugby' players in the world. Would of made a lot of people curious to find out more what was meant by that, and could see a few more trying to watch a game of League.

Darren Lockyer is our mighty captain ;) Andrew Johns is the jester...

Totally agree. Lockyer is the perfect ambassador for our game and deserves to remain captain for as long as he wishes.
