Personaly think it is good to see him being used well.

Can't believe it happened with us but it did.

Dude always puts in, but you guys know needs to be used for his skill set.

I see this pattern with others, anyways interested in the response.

Mate Tigers supporters never questioned his commitment, just his ability at Halfback through no fault of his own. Took Sheens 3 years to realize he's not a Halfback and never did utilize him correctly with Farah an 80min player.

Happy to see him push on with his career.

I'm glad the Indestructible John Morris is going well for you blokes. It's just a shame you guys didn't have a decent halves pairing when Dean Collis was on your books. As for the pattern, I'm sure you'll get plenty of people agreeing with you. Trying to make a prop out of Bronson Harrison was pretty bad, but not quite as bad as spending 3 years trying to make a fullback out of Tim Moltzen.

Then there's other blokes like Shannon Gallant, Mat Head, Mitch Brown and Junior Moors who all could have fitted so much better than their equivalents.

I do recall a lot negativity, and agreed most knew the real issue, which was you cannot simply make a bloke something he is not.

I note Sticky learnt from his mentor, who is the master of attempting manufacture. I see Cleary, Hoss share these triats.

Once we moved him out of the halves we started doing really well. He played well for us in his last 2-3 months off the bench and coming into the back row to keep our defence tight before and after the halftime break. He was never a half and we wasted 2 seasons with him at halfback and another one with him at 5/8 for the majority of it and shafting everyone else in the team out of position to accommodate him. He was never going to get a gig at hooker here and Sheens should never have signed him. He always put in though, the negativity was directed more at Sheens than Morris (apart from a certain poster going over the top with his hate fueled rants against the guy).

Where is Collis these days?

I like Morris,he gave 100% every week,3 years never missed a game, damn shame Sheen's has no idea,we could have got so much better value out of him at 13.

I thought Morris could have been a real good player for us if he was chosen in the right position.

On Morris, you could never question his commitment. Was never a half though, and was another career to suffer from Sheens playing men in the wrong position. He was always far more comfortable at hooker or lock. I always like to see him do well though, he has a heart the size of Phar Lap's.

Said to a Sharkies mate when they signed him that if he's played at 9 or off the bench, he'll be a good pickup. If he's played in the halves then it's stupid. Sure enough, he's played well for the last couple of years at hooker or off the bench.

I lay a lot of the blame at Sheens' feet for continuing to pick him at halfback, but I also question Morris' willingness to play outside his comfort zone. There were occasions, rare they may have been, when he demonstrated some semblence of a passing game, but he just didn't seem prepared to want to improve. His running and kicking games were subpar and I just wonder how much emphasis he put on improving his game and how much he put on his fitness.

Another example of Sheens' innovative ideas, trying to turn a player with zero football brains into a halfback.

No one ever questioned his committment, as said the anger was more directed at sheens for picking a bloke woefully out of position and taking 2 an a half years to correct it. Then when he finally moved him we won 8 of 10 or whatever it was

He is going well for the sharks cause flangan is using him as he should.

I always had a soft spot for Morris - because as people have said, he always gave 100%. He was also a stand out defender in what was a terrible defensive team back in those days.

Obviously didn't have the skills to be a quality halfback, and his reputation suffered dearly as a result.

He is great utility to have coming off the bench.

In 2009 we were sitting well out of finals calculations, then Sheens moved Morris to the bench, Marshall to 6, Moltzen to halfback and Gallant to fullback. We won 7 on the trot, before the Parra game where Taniela broke his leg and Gibbs got suspended for dropping knees 10 times more tame than every other one that gets let off. We lost to the Titans and beat the Dogs to finish 9th. If we played everyone in their correct positions from round 1 we would have probably finished top 4.

Yep and lost gallant the week before against the roosters...

That parra game killed us...we were all over them then lost both wingers and it happens to be the one game where sheens doesn't have a random outside back on the Bench to play 3 minutes

If taniela and Ryan don't go down then we win that game and who knows what happens...we go on the parras run through the finals?

The saddest part of the whole thing is still tuiaki...I hate seeing old games where he is playing and running over the top of everyone...that 2009 season was still the best I've ever seen from a winger...and I'm not just talking a tigers winger either...

John Morris played halfback against the Dogs and put in one of his best performances to deny them the minor premiership. I was giving it to my mate deluxe, especially after the way he gave it to me in that narrow loss to the Bulldogs earlier on in the year when Marshall wasn't playing.

After Gallant broke his leg, Sheens shifted Moltzen back to fullback and brought in Robert Lui to play halfback. As soon as Supercoach did that, I knew that we'd be stuck with Moltzen at fullback for a very long time.
