Newcastle loses Johns and their season is over.

I assume that if Cronulla loses Kimmorley and our season is over.

Would it work with other players? How important are players like
Peachey
Stevens
McGoldrick or Bird?!?

Oh. Fair enough

Peach has obviously been the big one for a number of years now, but I think our depth is good enough now that a couple of players could fill in. Our depth in the forwards is also a lot better, so losing Stevens or Beattie isn't the tragedy it once was.

Noddy is too good to lose though. We have a couple of quality halves, but the gap is still too big.

Yeah Peach is an interesting one.
He may not have the huge impact that he once did, but he brings an awful lot of experience with him.
Sure we have plenty of FB/Wings: Saleh, Merrit, Simmons, Reick, Emelio and perhaps McG, Franze, but maybe they'd lack a bit of direction without Peach.
Having said that, of course, Peach's recent tendency for temper and ill-discipline tends to go against everything I've said.

I actually don't mind our forwards now. I think they're the best since Ox, Stevo, Bundy, Knuckles, Nikau. So perhaps one or two are dispensable occaisionally.

Of course our season was over last year when we lost our first 8 games. That was weeks before Noddy was injured.

Peachey, Stevens and Kimmorley are obviously our key players. They did a thing in RLW in 2002 and it compared the effect Fittler, Peachey and A.Johns had on their teams, and Peachey had the biggest effect in terms of increase in win %.

I actually think Stevo is a huge loss.
Because, he is......huge.
He is an energy sapper for their defense & an injury cause for their attack. His tackles hurt.
f**king big lump of a man he is.

I reckon peach is irreplaceable in his current form.
& Noddy is too unless Sullivan can bring his defense up to the same level, in ability to predict the play & cut it off & make enough of a tackle to break the play down.
I have beeen very impressed with kimmorleys improvement in defense.

I've thought that for years. He used to always be good for nine yards per hit up and drag in 3 or so to defend. He doesn't get quite so far these days but he's still one of the best IMO.

Stevo is over that knee injury from last year and really powers into them again. Beattie would be no loss , he has become slow and not as damaging as he once was . Time to bring on the younger guys to play up front with Stevens, this is the year for that . Next year is the one we are building for.

Once apon a time, we couldn't win a game without the Peach if our life depended on it.

Nowadays, I think that has shifted to Noddy - as seen in 2003 when he missed a dozen games.
