Sorry to say the optimism and smugness by many on the forum about resigning Dugan is misplaced. Same can be said for Dragons management who if they were half competent business people would have locked him into a contract some weeks ago. The inside word is that Dugan has got cold feet about the Dragons and their lack of success and is looking at other options.

Where is your inside word coming from twinkletoes? Sources with far higher credibility than yourself have fed the optimism you refer to.

the headline was the only thing that worried me from this article, there is no substance to anything that they say. two quotes, one from dogs ceo sayin dugan is a gun and why wouldnt you ask the question and then a quote from duges sayin i want to repay the faith and the contract is almost sorted out.... i dont understand where they get the fact that he is frustrated

quality journalism right there

That did offer a lot of hope for me. There wasn't even a direct reference in the article to him being reportedly frustrated. It's just a quick assumption embedded in the title to attract attention from readers. For the record, I think he'll stay. I'm just super frustrated with our management, because they seem to have no idea about what they're doing. They need to sign up Dugan before Barba decides to leave.

And yet Dugan didn't want to leave Canberra, because they were such a successful team :sarcasm: He's also recognised publicly that Saints have got some decent recruits for next year. Most inside words never turn out to be true. I heard an inside word weeks ago from a Dogs man, about how Folau to Dogs was a done deal, and this was going to eventuate into Jmoz returning to Saints. Well Greenberg conceded defeat in try to yield in Folau.

....would it be wrong to start a thread called

"likely Responses from Peter Doust having missed out on Josh Dugan"

....or that just won't help the situation any, hey ? !

That is absolutely garbage. Sorry.

It comes down to Dugan having proven his worth, how it effects the cap and who we have to move on I'd guess.

The danger here is that the bloke gets comfortable, but he looks to be genuinely enjoying his footy at the moment and if he does realise his potential, he'll be one of the greats.

Will he win us a comp though?

One player never wins you a comp. The team has no true strike without Dugan therefore he's probably worth a bit more to us than other teams due to our roster. Bulldogs don't need him as much as we do for example. Can't control premierships - a team effort won us one in 2010 but we had Boyd, Gaz and Soward - strike players. Dugan with better halves is a great start...

It's not as if he had all this success at Canberra. As long as he gets paid what he's worth then he will stay.

It's all about his agent proving his worth and ATM the longer Dugan waits, the higher his perceived value.
Agent doing his job
