Josh Hannay anyone?

A former origin player playing park football for the Sharks? Not happy Jan. Here's in the mould of Michael De Vere ... solid defender, adequate in attack and a goal kicker.

Broncos need another outside back. If we could pick him for a season he'd be worth a try.

Dont agree.
We have Darius, we dont need another clone.
He was as fine player for a period of time, but sometimes the game passes you by

I remember back in '96 when he was 17 and wasn't allowed to play for the Cowboys cos the ARL said he was too young.....

Pity to see all that talent go to waste by getting a bum steer with the Sharks. I hope he finds a club. He's only 27 or 28. Still has some footy left in him.

I'd love them to sign him, but i can't see him fitting in to the salary cap.

He is still a quality player of NRL standard, but isn't getting the chance to prove that coz pRicky stuart is fu<king him around. He seems to be shafting all the Queenslanders, with Seymour and Ben Ross also on the outer.

Good pick up on that one ... Crocker felt the brunt of Sticky when at the Roosters as well.

Read this morning that the Broncos are cutting Jamie Simpson - centre from feeder club Aspley. They wouldn't be doing that unless there was someone else on the horizon. Simpson has been playing centre for Aspley for the past two seasons, seemingly first in line for a call up.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not a great Hannay fan, but in the absence of a strike weapon he can plug a hole so-to-speak like Michael De Vere. He doesn't make too many mistakes - except going to the Sharks - that was a biggy.

I rated Simpson, sad to see him go.

We don't need a Hannay, we need someone who can penetrate the line and set up his outside man.

Exactly, buying a defensive centre well past his glory days would be a hugh mistake in what otherwise has been some pretty good signings.

Yeah, Hannay is steady at best. I saw Chris Walker gave Nick Emmett a bit of a pasting yesterday in the City-Country clash. Don't think Nick's the answer either. The next star centre may have to come from within if we sign big Civ.

He's probably not the answer but he's certainly better than Darius at centre.

Part of me wants us to sign Petero but the other part of me says that we don't have that centre on our books to come within. We've signed a classy on the rise halfback but it's a bit of a waste if him and Locky don't have the finishers out wide.

Seymour WAS given several chances and did NOTHING. Even you blokes wouldnt give him a run, Ross is slow, in everything, running, playing the ball, scratchng his a$$ and Hannay sprouted off that he was ready for a new start and a new challenge except he carried on with his old ways, ever wonder why the cowboys dropped him???. The majority of the responses on this thread dont rate him. And as far as Ricky Stuart "shafting" players...ha, and the most arrogant farkwit in RL..Mr Wayne Bennett has never done that to one of his players??? *Cough, Hodges cough*

Typical biased Qld supporters.....grow up.

Flame away.

Sharkie, You may want to read this slowly to enhance the chances that you'll learn something.

Firstly, if Bennett "shafted" Hodges as you claim, seems Justin has forgiven and forgotten as he seems very happy under Bennett's coaching at the moment. IMO Hodges is playing at the highest level of his career, and please note he has also changed his on field behaviour for the better. However, I don't think any 'shafting' happened in the first place - but Bennett can't help it if so many fools (not mentioning anyone specifically) believe everything they read in the press.

Bennett arrogant? Only a month ago the guy apologised publicly to the fans for his approach taken in the press. Since this time his appearances in the press have been excellent and informative. Making public apologies and making changes such as these is not a character trait of "the most arrogant etc etc in the RL".

Seems some people equate long-term success as being 'arrogant' or if they support a club yet to taste success they lash out with unsupported claims at clubs and people who have. I would argue that Bennett's success is not due to arrogance. Long term success that Wayne Bennett has enjoyed is only possible by remaining teachable and humble.

When Hodges was playing for the Roosters he did behave poorly. Stuart had much to do with this - his arrogance rubbed off on Hodges. Stuart is the only coach in the league that when interviewed talks about himself in the first person, "What is Ricky Stuart doing about the Sharks next performance" I heard him say the other day.

Bwahahahahahahahahaha,,,,,snigger. Hey Daz get your hand off it before you go blind and dumb...oops too late. Yes I can call you stupid, thick, simple, slow etc just like you. Are you that insecure that you have to belittle people in a forum?

if Bennett "shafted" Hodges as you claim,
So what your saying is when Hodgers signed with the roostes several years ago and Bennett dropped (or is it shafted?) him to the lower grades, that was total BS made up by newspapers? And of course made up by me....

IMO Hodges is playing at the highest level of his career, and please note he has also changed his on field behaviour for the better.
No argument from me there.

See first quote. And please stop trying to be "Witty" and calling me a fool, you know nothing about me.

apologised publicly to the fans for his approach taken in the press.
What did he apologise for? Thats right his rude, arrogant approach towards the press. And by the way arrogant people can apologise when forced to from higher up people, press and fans.

Seems some people equate long-term success as being 'arrogant' or if they support a club yet to taste success
Champ, did you forget the Amco cup??? Just teasing...true comment, but we didnt have an entire state to choose our players from. Probably 90% of kids growing up in Qld wanted to play for the Broncos when they came into the competition. And no, long term success doesnt = arrogant. Its the same as Ricky Stuart at the Roosters, with the playing roster he had if he hadnt won a GF questions would have been asked. If Bennett doesnt win with the "Best player in RL" and the other "Stars" questions should be asked.

When Hodges was playing for the Roosters he did behave poorly. Stuart had much to do with this - his arrogance rubbed off on Hodges.
Mate, Hodges didnt have an attitude problem before going to the Roosters? Come on...it was well publcised he had a problem. And I wont stick up for Ricky when I say Hodges attitude worsened after being with the Roosters, but to claim he didnt have a problem UNTIL he went to the roosters is very "head in sand" attitude.

Stuart is the only coach in the league that when interviewed talks about himself in the first person, "What is Ricky Stuart doing about the Sharks next performance" I heard him say the other day.
That was a comment made about our attack. He stated that what we were doing during practise wasnt happening on the field. That comes back to poor communication on his part or he may have to take a look at himself and his coaching. So in that context he was stating "What is Ricky Stuart going to do about it."

If you want to argue your point like I do then I respect that. I respect your loyalty towards your team as I assume you do of me. But what I dont respect is the personal attacks. I am not telling you anything new when I said all queenslanders are biased, I will also say all NSWelshmen are biased. Its a fact of life.
