Judiciary charges
Six players were charged today by the NRL judiciary for offences committed in round 18, including the Dragons David Howell who faces at least three weeks on the sideline for striking the Broncos Karmichael Hunt in his teams loss to the Brisbane outfit on Friday night.
Howell, who has no prior offences on his record, faces such a lengthy period on the sideline because the charge was given a grade four rating.
An early guilty plea will see Howell sidelined for three matches.
The bad news continued for the Dragons, with the judiciary also charging Mark Riddell for a 49th minute lifting tackle on the Broncos Darren Mapp.
An early guilty plea will see Riddell miss the Dragons' match against the Roosters this weekend.
Two players from the Eels were also charged in round 18 Dean Widders for a lifting tackle on the Roosters Chad Robinson and Lee Hopkins with a careless high tackle on Origin hero Craig Fitzgibbon.
Both players will escape suspension if they make early guilty pleas.
The judiciary also examined separate striking incidents involving the Panthers Ben Ross and the Sea Eagles Ian Donnelly.
Ross was charged for a high shot on the Rabbitohs Ashley Harrison in the 76th minute of his teams loss to South Sydney on Sunday, while Donnelly was charged with striking the Wests Tigers Mark ONeill in the 41st minute of their clash at Brookvale yesterday.
Both players have a prior similar offence on their record and will serve a one-match suspension even if they take the early guilty plea.
