They both should be storming games.

The Parra v Balmain SG Ball clash was decided in the last 7 seconds in the main draw

Well done to the young Magpies who had a successful year despite the loss yestereday.

Congratulations to Balmain who are through to the GF against the Panthers. Good to see Tom Satterthwaite continue with his try scoring yesterday.

The Tigers won a hard fought game 24 - 12 against a tough Redcliffe side at sunny North Sydney Oval. The Tigers won through strong defence and the control of the game through the halves pairing.

Matthew Head is obviously a very good coach and WTs could do a lot worse than have him aboard in an assistant capacity.

Marshall-King controlled the game with his kicking game. A very different player to his brother and his no risk options got the side home. It will be very difficult carrying this name but he played exceptionally well and is an obvious talent.

Armstrong - with time on his hands it is easy to see he is a very special player. Controlled the right side and Redcliffe were unable to control his passing and running game. Scored three tries today. Man of the Match.

Matt Woods - went off injured halfway through the first half which made the win more memorable. A very good talent.

Junior Tatola and Pio Sokobaiava got the team going forward with their drive in attack and also intimidating in defence.

Wheelhouse brothers, Josh Camroux all looked great talents and it is a pleasure to see the Wheelhouse and Camroux names with Balmain.

Camden Sutton - did well at the back and looks fast and elusive. I think a Mudgee product?

Tom Satterthwaite - very fast and with skills, unlucky not to score today. A typical build for a centre and we'll see more of him.

Your welcome. It is amazing four young half talents have been thrown up by the Tigers in two years. I really believe Matt Head has a great future with WTs especially mentoring our young half prospects.

Is this the same Mat Head who was astutely purchased by the Tigers to partner Marshall in the halves but was only allowed a handful of matches?

Yes, and the halves in the team played like they had been coached by a former half. No risk but what they did was done well. A very good effort.

Thanks for that. I'm guess that puts paid to the rumours that Head didn't play in the top squad more because he was a bad influence on the younger blokes. If he was, he wouldn't have gotten a coaching gig with the club.

The young players really responded to him. WTs could certainly use his knowledge to mentor our halves. The way Marshall-King and Armstrong controlled the game was pleasing and a reflection on their talent and also Matt Head's coaching.

Head may not have been the most dedicated footballer, but his football brain was one of the best and lets face it, with his bung knees,it was what got him through 80 minutes of football most weekends

Another young player to watch for in the Holden Cup this week is Rhys Armstrong. Played 5/8 in the match against Redcliffe. A great talent and another from the Balmain juniors. Well done.
