Juniors in the GF

Was just looking through the players from both teams and was surprised to see the raiders only had 2 juniors in their team. Mind you that’s twice the roosters.
I thought with the entire ACT there would be a greater number.

Depends on what you define a junior I suppose.

Someone like Josh Papalii has been through the Raiders junior system pretty much his whole life because of the Souths Logan feeder arrangement we had in place.

Others like Wighton, Croker etc came through the junior reps setup as well.

The only 2 I seen that are local juniors are Cotric and Crocker. I seen whiten saying they signed him from Orange when he was about 16.

Wighton played Matt's for us. Simonson as well but he left to NZ. Papa was in our system at that age when South's Logan was a feeder, generally those players move down for SG Ball.

We definitely put less focus on developing first graders now but that's the only option these days.

who are the roosters juniors?

Victor Radley is the only Roosters junior

Sam Verrills is Manly
Toupu is a Bulldogs junior
Lattell Mitchell is Taree whichis South of Brisbane, so that makes him a Souths Junior
Nat Butcher is from Malabar which is Souths
Zane Tetavano is from the Cook Islands so probably Souths as well knowing them
Angus Chrichton comes from Temora near Wagga, which would be Raiders territory. He first played Rugby at Scots College in Bellevue Hill and then switched back to league with the Roosters for NYC. So that makes him a Souths Junior as well...... etc

Victor Radley is a local easts junior starting on sunday.

We have 9 players who debuted for the roosters. We have another 2 that played less than 10 games anywhere else (Taka 1 game for the warriors, JWH a few for Manly).

No sure what any of it means, to be honest. Its a professional sport.

Boyd Cordner grew up outside Taree as well before going into the Roosters junior program - so you missed another one from Souths
Souths could probably claim Mitch Aubusson as well

It is mainly a numbers game. Even if rugby league was the first choice weekend sport in the eastern suburbs they would still be well behind the likes of Penrith and Parramatta

Having most players come through the junior reps shows that a club has a good coaching and development program and is the thing that leads to long term success rather than buying established first graders all the time

Apparently he has always been 49 years old.... which explains his ploddyness

When he was a younger 49, he was from Taree..... see Latrell Mitchell as explanation as to why that would have made him a Souths Junior had he ever been young enough to qualify
