they also hired Matt Dunning as their strength and conditioning coach, Phil Tuffnell as their speed and co ordination coach and Mark Phillipousous as their motivator

or what would be even funnier is if we hired Mark Riddell as our strength and conditioning coach

Manly should just go and play AFL, there pathetic excuse for a club would suit the AFL game.

pathetic club? correct me if i'm wrong.

Manly have achieved more in the history of Rugby League than Parra?

Our CEO isn't trying to introduce a rugby team?

Our coach doesn't make good players want to leave the club?

Our fans don't want to lynch our coach?

If failing in all these areas makes you a pathetic club, then so be it. ;-)

Correct ME if I am wrong (which I may well be, as I am a League newcomer so to speak), but:

* Manly has been around longer than Parra

* What has trying to introduce a rugby team got to do with being a good or bad club?

* Our coach makes good players leave (apparently), and then again attracts the likes of Riddell (which strangely enough, a lot of you Manly fans love to bag out - seems to me like you're just jealous), Morrison, Marsh and Tahu. If releasing Ryan to sign Morrison was the plan, you won't hear me complaining.

* Your fans don't want to lynch your coach for obvoius reasons:
- it was his first season as head coach with limited resources and an average team
- they are used to finishing in the range 10 to 15th as evidenced in recent years (sorry, but it's true - Manly has not been a force in recent years).

We on the other hand have had a team filled with International and Origin stars for years, under the same coach that took us to the 2001 GF, and yet we have been unable to replicate success for 3 years.

THAT is why some Eels fans want to lynch the coach.

Both entered the league in the same year.

wealthier during most of that time & been around longer
Our CEO isn't trying to introduce a rugby team?
no - just an afl one!
Our coach doesn't make good players want to leave the club?
you've got no good players there anymore
Our fans don't want to lynch our coach?
because there are no more coaches left - or is chris anderson an option? ;-)
If failing in all these areas makes you a pathetic club, then so be it

Manly have been around longer??? what name were they under before 1914?

We have no more good players? Beaver- NSW/AUS Rep, Hoppa – NSW/AUS Rep, Kennedy – NSW/AUS Rep, Kite – NSW Rep, Harris – City Rep, Terry Hill – NSW/AUS Rep. We might not have the flashiest team, but we still do have good players.

Hasler doesn’t want to be lynched because we know we had a poor team and the results matched that. Parra however, have had a half decent team for the last 4 seasons and have achieved nothing.

what positions will the super coach be playing your new signings?

Knowing him Riddell will be 5/8 and Marsh Prop with Morrisson at Fullback. That coach of yours is a genius!!!!

Kite – NSW Rep

Harris – City Rep

back to the debate :D

it's amazing you know, we constantly read two things about you blokes.

* how Parra are shite because of Smith and Fitzy!

or

* Poor us! " we never had the money to be comptative" " we couldn't spend up to the cap" " we nearly went broke" " the Northern eagles saga was a sham etc.....

so lets get back to the first point:

Brian Smith: you don't need to remind us about Smith never winning a premiership we're well aware of that, he was hired at the end of 96 on the back of our club not making the play off since 86 since he's been at the club we've made the play off every year except for the last 2 season. we had 3 years where we came within a whisker of making the grand final and we made it 2001 and got done.

face the facts! Hasler won't need to worry about the above record because he won't get near it.

Dennis Fitzgerald: the longest serving CEO in the comp! has built our leagues club into 1 of the richest in the state, has seen 4 premierships along with several lean years but is also a great business mind even though he enjoys thinking outside the square, which is the only thing people hate him about.

As for your mob..some questions.

why haven't you made the play offs since 98??

why did You merge with North Sydney?

why did it ever get stage where you couldn't spend up to the cap??

if your laughing our about our retention policies over tha last few years? how have yours been any better? [that's right, you've had no players to lose]

how have your signings over the last few years help you from becoming a better club??

who do you blame for your clubs demise??..Fitzy or Smithy??? :D

My favourite Manly effort last year was when they got cashed up, signed Kite and Kennedy on big bucks, with the promise of more big names.

And we kept hearing, big names going to manly, manly will be competitve in the market.......and then, bang, they signed Michael Witt :D

I don’t see what your getting at, are you saying that we did have a full cap and just didn’t spend it? how can you say that we can’t blame our poor financial state, we spent under the cap by $1.25million.!!!! The real question is, why did you spend the full cap and haven’t been anywhere near the GF since 2001?

Also, who says Hasler can’t match those figures? All he has to do is win 1 premiership and he has beaten them. Maybe in 10 years time you can compare, but a rookie that has achieved nothing has more credential than an experienced coach who has achieved nothing.

Dennies Fitzgerald is a joke, if he had his way, he would cross bread AFL League and Union and if your kick the ball under the bar you get 13.6 points and if you knock on you lose 1.23 points. The guy is a deadset moron.

Why haven’t we made the finals since 1998? Because we haven’t been good enough, but in saying that, when Manly aren’t doing good they don’t collect the spoon. When Parra do bad they get wooden spoons (20).

Why did we merge with North Sydney? Because we saw it as an opportunity to expand our supporter/player base. We were not forced to merge, we could of qualified for the 2000 season without merging.

I’m not pretending to be in the know about manly’s financial state, so I am not sure why we lost all our money, probably due to that thief kimmorley! lol

Our player retention rate is pretty good. We did lose a few good players in the NE era due to the financial position of the club and the players insecurity (which I can understand). Parramatta on the other hand, they have plenty of money but can’t keep quality players.

How have our recent signings helped us. I believe that by securing a few big names in kite and kennedy it will show other players that current quality players are willing to go to manly and the financial probs have been ironed out. This may lead to other big name signings in the next couple of years, hence better performances and better crowds.

Who do I blame for Manly’s fall from grace? I blame manly’s old management, but I love the club and can’t stay angry.

But since you gave me a choice of Fitzy or Smith, I’ll take Fitzy thanks.

If you'd read my post, you'd see that I mentioned that I have only 4 years of Rugby League experience.

For me to even know when the Eels won the Premierships, against who, and name sdome of their legends is quite remarkable IMO.

For me to know it and play it is quite remarkable.

SO give me a break please.

20 spoons. Play a new record will you. Though we did come close in recent years (1995 being the last time )our last spoon was a very long time ago - 1972 to be exact. Going by your automatic response no doubt well before you were born.....
