What we need is comparable match-payments for islanders...

Offering $50,000 to appear for the Roos and $50 to appear, what do we expect is gonna happen?

Stop asking the NRL to do anything

Its the NZRL TongaRL and APRLF and RLIF bypass the NRL and the ESL

Sell the Pacific Cup to Ch7 and you have your player payment cash

Fox and Ch9 only pay for Oz footy matchs at home

The NRL give away the Pacific tests for FREE

Yup.

NZ/Tonga/Samoa etc need to get together and make things happen.

They then need to get the RLIF to take a hard line stance with the NRL and ESL to ensure a proper series.

Channel 7 would jump at the chance imo.

Won't happen because clubs, but it would be nice.

The point is he is likely to play for NZ next time.

Anyways, you seem unwilling on engaging in a discussion on how best to keep teams like Tonga at full strength so no point arguing.

Only if Tonga don't have meaningful games, and that's the point

If nz tour England next year and Tonga don't have game of course he'll opt for nz. If there was a three test Tonga v nz series instead who do you think he would Choose?

Well depends on the eligibility rules. My posts are in response to the idea of an annual series between the 2 during origin. Surely that annual series structure would necessitate the abolition of the current system where you can defect between the 2? If not you may as well call it NZ A vs NZ B. I believe the likes of JT and SST would choose NZ if they had to declare allegience for life.

Tonga RL needs to organise its own Tour of Europe/Americas

Play a Kiwi test on English soil or a test in NZ before the Kiwis leave

You'll need the NRL to get on board or clubs will just block their players from playing for the island Nations as what has happened in the past, those two week injuries players mysteriously come up with). These tests will work better if they are all at full strength so you get performances like that of NZ v Tonga as opposed to an under strength Samoa v under strength Scotland.

I think there already is a official rule that stops NRL clubs from doing exactly that for fully RLIF sanctioned internationals

Yeah the rule is if clubs stops players from playing international then they would be stood down for one week... That's crap because there is no club games that weekend because of international games... They should change it to one game ban not one week

They always get around that. I remember the likes of David Mead and Nene MacDonald pulling out of the PNG v Cook Islands game earlier this year. The Eels also stopped Kenny Edwards from playing.

I love how the NRL is always on to the players about promoting the game, which usually just means 'give 9 and Fox generic interviews', but then they allow the clubs to block players from doing the one thing that promotes the game most - play international footy.
