Pirtek Parramatta Eels prop Justin Poore has dismissed speculation he is set to make a mid-season switch to a rival NRL club, slamming suggestions the Club needed a 'clean out' in the same breath.
Poore, off contract at the end of 2012, has been linked to Newcastle and Canberra but was emphatic in his belief that his besieged team and head coach would stop the current rot.
When asked of the possibility of him joining former coach Wayne Bennett at Newcastle before the June 30 deadline passes, Poore replied:
"Definitely not mate, I'm committed to Parramatta Eels for the rest of the year and I'm sure I'll be staying here," Poore said.
So, does the former NSW Origin rep and one of the team's most consistent forwards this season want to stay in the Blue and Gold?
"Definitely. I love the Club, and I've spoken to Steve about it, and he's told me to concentrate on footy and the more I do that the better I play.
"I can be a bit of a stress-head, and he knows that, so I do my thing and he does his thing, and as long as I'm playing good football I'm a happy man."
Poore didn't pull any punches when asked if he believed the playing roster needed a "clean out" following one of the worst starts to an NRL season in the Club's history.
"I'm hearing a lot of this - no I don't," Poore replied.
"If you went and sat down with every bloke, you would be so impressed with their character, their attitude - clubs just go through tough times and we're going through it at the moment.
"We've got such a good bunch of blokes here that I'm proud to say I play for the Parramatta Eels because I know what sort of blokes they are.
"The results aren't there, I know, but it's not through lack of trying. We've seen what we do on the field - we just have to create points and win games, and that's what we're trying to do."
Poore joined the Eels in 2010 after a well publicised move from the St George Illawarra Dragons, only to suffer a serious knee injury in his first season with the Club.
After a long and arduous recovery, the former Blues prop has worked his way back to the starting prop position and says he couldn't be happier with his own personal progress.
"Obviously coming off an injury last year that had my head in a pretty bad space, I'm happy the way I'm going and the coach is happy the way I'm going, so hopefully I can just keep doing my job and we can get a few more wins up."
"You go through ups and downs in football - you're going to go through a lot more downs than ups, and you have to make the most of it."

Not sure if this has been posted anywhere else, I couldn't see it.
A couple of things stood out to me that I thought were a little interesting in the video (not stated in the story).
1st, the reporters seemed to be trying to see if he was just playing for himself (his next contract) or whether he cared about the team winning. He said he was just happy to play well. It didn't seem to bother him if the team won or lost. Didn't seem to be any real club spirit there.
2nd, was the the comment he made that he liked the club/the boys, but they don't like him. I hope that was just a gee up.
I'm probably just reading into it a bit, I watched the interview before reading the story and those two comments just stood out to me. Granted he did also say lots of positive things. I've also been impressed by his form and don't want him to go.
