The way forward for this sport is to grow the International game so we need to cut back on the domestic comps.

[... KANGAROOS skipper Cameron Smith wants more international rugby league, but admits the only way it’ll happen is to shorten the NRL season.

Smith believes the success of the Rugby League World Cup has whet the appetite for more Test matches in the future, particularly among the emerging nations.

And 2. Australia are taking a year off next year !!!

When he's on a high coming off a World Cup win -- "More internationals"
When he's struggling from the exhaustion of the long season -- "Fewer internationals"

Creating a proper strategy for rugby league is too important to be left to the whims of the players, coaches and clubs.
