Kearns unhappy with Storms "modest" offer

NSW State of Origin forward Robbie Kearns is still awaiting a reasonable approach from Melbourne after receiving only a modest offer to stay with the National Rugby League club.
At 31, Kearns is in the twilight of his career but is enjoying one of his best-ever seasons, helping the Blues retain Origin supremacy with their series victory over Queensland. But, despite wanting to remain at Melbourne, Kearns' manager says the veteran prop is only a 50-50 proposition.
George Mimis says the Storm have offered his client an unacceptable one-year contract, with an opportunity of another season's extension. Kearns thinks he has at least one and possibly two good seasons left in him.

Kearns is on good money anyway and both club and player should come to a mutual agreement. Sure Kearns might earning another $100,000 elsewhere, but what a way to end your career....surely he has to pay back some loyalty to the club as well.....and of course vice versa.....and because of the huge oinjury toll the Storm has had in the past with long-term contracted players....they want to, in future, offer 2 years deals to all players....as we have so many sitting on the sidelines.

It would be great for league for Kearns to finish his career here.
Look at Swain....he looked unsettled with the Broncos...played for a pittance and did not fit in...and now gone to England......I somehow think he regrets leaving the Storm.

"Loyalty to the club"-I remember that.Back in the sixties think it was.
Kearns is an Engadine boy playing with a business, not a club.
His big problem is going to be to attract a better offer as he will be 32 at the start of next season.
