I'm pretty sure we chased both Widdop and Shaun Johnson, with Reynolds being our last resort. EIther way I'm happy with Reynolds as it is

I feel our club is actually being managed well. I think the club made a really poor decision in relation to giving Taylor the coaching job. Taylor then made some really poor decisions.

I honestly feel now that we will be decent next year with the ability to improve a lot over the next couple of years.

It was interesting hearing Ben Ikin state that you need a marquee player to win the comp. We've had a couple of marquee players in Benji, Robbie and Tedesco and they've done nothing for us since 05. I think you just need a really good team which comes down to cap management.

Ikin also stated that he loved ET however he also stated that most teams have 3 props and 2 edge backrowers who are close to centres. I don't think ET fits into either role but I also rate ET highly. It'll be interesting how this plays out.

That may have been the case however listening to him he also says they were surprised Josh would even meet with them as they expected him to play his career out at Canterbury. So I think it was moreso they never considered him a serious option whereas Widdop has already been at 2 clubs and IC had a relationship with Johnson.

Agree re being happy with Reynolds. Of all the options available I think he is the best fit for Brooks and the club atm

Egan seems very professional and has worked with the best in the business in Bennett and Hasler. The club finally seems to be turning the corner off the field.

So glad we didn't chase Johnson. I don't rate him at all. Widdop would have been a smart buy imo

My mates who are big saints fans say widdop only plays well at contract time. A lot of them would have preferred to keep Dugan or Packer over him. I also don't think he and Brooks would have gelled as both like to be the main play maker

Yeah Vic Im thinking Reynolds would have been the best fit for Brookes - and honestly thats the most important thing. Reynolds doesnt need to "big-up" himself and can just take a back seat and play his natural game.

yep

reynolds is one guy who always put the team first and has already said it will be brooksys team, he will just chip in in hes own way

the pure determination he will bring on the field will be the biggest thing though, we havent had a guy who can inspire his team mates through determination since gareth ellis

Reynolds will bring the passion back to our jersey. He will attract other big name players to come and play for us. Most importantly though, on the field he will bring an aggressive attitude that we have lacked forever.

Widdop performs when his pack goes forward. Saints fans used to pan Benji and say it was his fault. Benji just knew how to play behind a beaten pack, he made a career on it.
