Wouldn't this be a brilliant story to emerge? I love the idea of international rugby league growing and it astounds me this hasn't been adopted earlier. Pretty exciting to hear they've approached our club, it really shows we've begun to think outside the box and are thinking long term. Hope more eventuates from this.

Jason Saab is still a flop though... 😂

Two things here. This tennant character is good at blowing his own trumpet so we should be wary of what he wants himself ( he may take most of the sponsorship money himself for "administration ) They already play union so what is in it for Kenyan's to convert to League ? Plenty of union opportunities in Europe , which is a lot closer than Oz. Worth a try i guess but the same was tried in South Africa in the late 50's early 60's and even farcical test matches played against them but it petted out very quickly. If the Dragons sponsor anything rather it be Fijians as their body shape suits both forwards & backs and there are Fijian community support here as well.

Yes- Kenya is a country renowned for its long distance runners who have dominated Olympics marathon and 10K running events for many years. Sevens Rugby in Kenya is a relatively recent phenomenon and of course the main focus is on aerobic capacity, running skills and scoring tries rather than defence. Tennant conceded that Kenyans are more likely to make good outside backs but everyone in League must be able to defend. We just got rid of a terrific runner in Dufty mainly due to his poor defence.

I could understand the AFL targeting african nations who are renowned for producing athletes with endurance which is required more in AFL. Their body shapes aren't for NRL. Excluding the Pacific islands, if clubs are looking at new frontiers, i would target athletes that run the 100-200m as they are explosive and generally more muscular. Imagine Rava if he could do the 100m in close to 10 sec.

In League it's not the 10 second 100 metre outside back you want. It is the 4 second 50 metre player. Seen plenty of players take time to get their motor running but it is acceleration you want .

I hope something comes of this. Can’t hurt to have a couple in the pathway here and the Dolphins. Especially if PVL kicks the can a bit.
