The Brisbane Broncos have asked Warrington for an official clearance for Kevin Walters so the former Test stand-off can make a return tothe gamethis weekend. Walters was released from his contract with the Wolves after just a couple of games earlier this year for personal reasons.
But it is believed that a condition of the release was that he wouldnât play again.
Brisbane coach Wayne Bennett sprung the second surprise of recent weeks when he announced Walters had agreed to play against the New Zealand Warriors on the Gold Coast on Sunday.
This follows Bennettâs shock recruitment of Waltersâ old foil Allan Langer for the deciding State of Origin clash two weeks ago.
Bennett wanted the services of Walters because of a spate of injuries and a work overload from the Origin series and Fridayâs Test against the Kiwis.
The Broncos will have seven Test players backing up just 48 hours after the Trans-Tasman encounter.
