King's battle to keep his crown at Manly

INJURED Manly prop Jason King is readying himself for the challenge of his career following the Sea Eagles signing Josh Perry.
Perry, a one-off NSW prop in 2003, will join Manly next season on a three-year deal.
With Brent Kite an established representative forward in Manly's engine-room, the heat will be on King to retain his place in the starting line-up.
``I've just got to train harder and go to that next level,'' the Sea Eagles junior said.
``I think a little bit more competition is good for everyone.
``He's going to be a great asset to the team and will hopefully make the team stronger.''
King is also hoping to come back stronger following knee surgery last month.
The 26-year-old was enjoying the form of his life this year before the untimely injury suffered during a training drill before the Tigers match four weeks ago.
The City Origin prop said his return is brewing, hopefully against the Rabbitohs in round 23.
``It's been frustrating,'' King said.
``Sitting back on the sidelines after getting injured at training, but it's great to be watching the boys playing some great footy.
``Hopefully I'm two weeks away, depending on how the knee responds to treatment.
``I was definitely happy with how I was going before I got injured.
``It's probably been the most consistent I've been, for that (the injury) to happen was a bit of a setback.''
The time off has also given King the chance to catch a glimpse of Manly's next generation of forwards with Mark Bryant, Adam Cuthbertson and Jack Afamasaga all stepping up.
``Everyone is playing well, particularly the front-rowers,'' King said.
``The young fellows coming up are playing awesome.
``I'll have my work cut-out to get back in the team.
``I've got to be right on my game when I get my chance.''
King has nothing to worry about, he will be straight back in when he's fit and ready.
